IMO, groinpull's question is very legit. How many HS soccer coaches quit, voluntarily or otherwise midseason?

 

And if the Scott coach quit because he feels it's the " best decision for the program", please explain the timing. Would it have not made much more sense to do this after last year's State Championship match? Clearly the events in that game caused a great deal of embarrassment to the school and program.

 

I'm not saying the question isn't legit. I'm saying it doesn't need to be discussed. It was a personal decision that like I said was the right one under the circumstances. The actual truth of it all will probably never be accurately posted on here, so it is best to come up with whatever conclusion you want, but you will not get the full story off this blog.

Word out in the community is that the school was told:

A) get a new coach asap

 

or

 

B) forget about post-season play for a couple of years

 

If that is wrong then maybe you can tell us since you're so much in the know.

 

And who will be the new coach for the remainder of the year?

Under these circumstances I'll say it again, if Scott's AD and or principle did not remove the coach and my kid went to Scott I would be questioning them why? I have no details but is appears the coach was basically removed by khsaa.

 

I'm confident the administrations where my kids attended school would have removed any coach with similar issues long before Scott or khsaa did.

I think quitting the game vs. Oldham County was the final straw on top of last year. And really, who knows what else happened that was reported to KHSAA but was not out in public. Weren't there games cancelled because Scott failed to obtain refs in time? Stuff like that adds up.

His lifeline was very short and pulling your team off the field was definitely the final straw.

The only difference between the two is what was said to the team. It may have been spun as resignation. It was removal.

I define that in my industry as "getting quit."

As OTB mentioned, it's sad for the seniors in the program.

Several people I have seen this week, told me the assistant coaches from with in the program are telling people he was forced to resign or there would have been sanctions to the school. It really is bad for the seniors though, as they don't ask for these issues. Are they just going with an assistant coach until the end of the year so the season is so far in?

Hope this (bolded) is not completely accurate. Anyone officially associated with the Scott program, AD, assistant coaches, trainers, etc should not be going around discussing the recently resigned head coach. This could only make the program be seen in a lesser light than it already is.
