Guess my question is, don't most school's freshman teams have feeder programs. So don't most schools have these "issues"? And aren't we 4/5 weeks into season? I'm sure the Pioneers will get things together this year. Good luck the rest of the way.

Don't the HHS Frosh play together in the FT league? Experience playing together does matter.

Depends on what you mean by "playing together". They play against each other ...meaning there are 3-4 teams of kids that are split up on separate teams and play against each other. And then kids from elsewhere come in their freshman year too. So they don't really play together, they play against each other.

Please- Every HS Frosh team has this issue. It's an all new coaching staff looking at and evaluating kids for the first time every year. Let's not act like SK is somehow handicapped by having (gasp!) three feeder programs. I'm sure most High Schools would give their left arm to have three programs feeding them players.

Highlands scored first on their opening possession. 4th and 19 Kremer hit Huddleston on an out to the left sideline. Huddleston made a fantastic, takeaway catch then ran the ball to the two yard line. Highlands punched it in from there for a 7-0 lead. SK came right back and scored and converted the 2 point conversion to take a 8-7 lead after 1 quarter. The Pioneers then socred early in the 2nd quarter, the 2 point try failed and they had a 14-7 lead. They kept that lead until there were 12 seconds to play in the first half. Kremer hit a receiver (sorry I don't know who) after a scramble to avoid the rush, in the end zone for the TD. The game went into the half, tied at 14. The second half was controlled by the birds as it appeared the Pioneers began to tire. 2 more TD's and a field goal led to the 30-14 final score. 24 unanswered points after falling behind early, says a lot about this team. They also played the game without one of their top players, Schwalbach, who was out with an ankle injury.

Yes, a big, strong 8th grader. Very good player, a lot of fun to watch.

Sounds like the baby Birds are doing well this year, good for them!

They appear to be headed for a nice season. There are some excellent athletes in this class and from what I hear, the 8th grade class is loaded as well, which bodes well for next year. I am really looking forward to seeing Huddleston next season with another year of the HHS weight program under his belt!

My brother's son plays for Highlands. So far this season his son has played receiver, center, guard, tackle and linebacker. The coaches are working with him to find the best position for his success as well as the teams success. He having the time of his life right now. He's not an exceptional athlete, but he's learning……….. the bluebird way of doing things.

Not exactly. The FTH kids are running the same offense and defense, correct? The kids coming into SK are not all running SK stuff.
