September 15, 201511 yr Don't know. Your Google machine broke??? You think I ask a question without knowing the answer?
September 15, 201511 yr It doesn't matter, UofL can't win that bidding war if Texas decides he is their guy. Jurich has a better track record than Patterson and has been doing it longer, he should be making as much or more than Patterson. No he shouldn't. I'd bet as a percentage of revenue brought in Tom's salary is near the top. The game is money. Yes, winning helps bring in money. UL's women's soccer program or LAX program being really good is nice but it isn't bringing in money. Texas lost one of their biggest boosters who didn't renew their luxury suite. That caught someone's attention.
September 15, 201511 yr You can't seriously think an AD would ever stay at U of L over Texas, am I reading what you are saying correctly? I mean you can be the biggest Louisville fan in the world, but you always want someone to take greener pastures, and that is clearly greener pastures.
September 15, 201511 yr Let's see if Texas once again uses an outside search firm to hire their next AD. How did that work out last time?

September 15, 201511 yr Goes deeper than the money. I really think Jurich is working to put his son in position as the next AD at Louisville. He can't build a family dynasty like that at Texas; he might have the clout and the friends to pull it off here.
September 15, 201511 yr Speaking of that, if you just listen to Tom and Mark Jurich, it's almost impossible to tell them apart.

September 15, 201511 yr Weren't you guys that are saying Jurich wouldn't leave the same ones who said Strong wouldn't either? Point being, everyone has a price. If Texas is willing to pay it, he'd leave.

If Texas is willing to pay it, he'd leave. That's the question. Tom is already making the same , if not more, than Patterson was. How much would it take for Tom to leave? How much more is UT willing to pay? Can Tom improve UT revenue? Does Tom want the challenge?
September 15, 201511 yr Weren't you guys that are saying Jurich wouldn't leave the same ones who said Strong wouldn't either? Point being, everyone has a price. If Texas is willing to pay it, he'd leave. Well seeing as there are only about four or five vocal UL posters, I'd say there's a good chance it would be the same ones. Clyde addressed the money issue. If UT wants to up their AD's salary, maybe he would leave. There are some people in the world that don't bolt at the first new opportunity that becomes available.

I mean you can be the biggest Louisville fan in the world, but you always want someone to take greener pastures, and that is clearly greener pastures. I'll say it, I would be shocked beyond measure if Jurich would leave UL for Texas. Now, I say that partly because Jurich is over-paid at UL (when factoring in UL's revenue as it compares to AD salaries: example, no way he should be making more than Gene Smith at The Ohio State University when UL brings in approximately 1/3rd of what tOSU does in Athletic Revenue), partly because he has laid the foundation on campus and in the city where he essentially has risen to King of the Derby City with a succession of battle-field promotions, and lastly because he has created a string of uber-friendly deals. The new AD at Texas is going to have some work to do with the Booster group, but more so in that the University of Texas no longer runs the state of Texas unopposed. A&M has risen dramatically, the 2nd tier programs have risen dramatically, and the Cowboys are sucking up a lot more money from this pool of sponsorship dollars than ever before. Now, is it a Great job for an AD? Obviously. Nearly every AD in America would jump at it. I just think Jurich, by hook or by crook, has created the nearly perfect situation in Louisville. This coming from someone that has been around Jurich a great deal and likes him very little.
