Within 3A is a different story though. Belfry, Central and Catholic all could challenge them. Catholic seems to always hit their groove by the time the Boyle game rolls around.

I was the one who said top 3 in any class maybe I would consider top 5, but they are a machine. A team that has excellent execution. Maybe the best coaching staff in the State who puts them where they need to be to win games. They rarely turn the ball over. You turn the ball over they make you pay. A very patient team that keeps the foot on the gas. An excellent defense. A very diverse and dynamic offense that is lead by a QB that is intelligent, athletic and a dominate competitor. Listen this is coming from a staunch life long Danville player and fan not a Boyle Co. homer. Boyle Co. is an elite team in this State. I know they can play with the best teams in this state bar none.

 

Boyle County is a great team and I would put them in the top fifteen in state, but there best win is a two-point down to the wire game against an unranked Central Hardin. South Warren beat Central Hardin 24-3. As for teams I think would beat Boyle County:

 

In 6A: Male, Trinity, Scott County definitely. Simon Kenton, Manual, Bryan Station probably.

In 5A: Bowling Green, Pulaski County definitely Owensboro probably

In 4A: South Warren, definitely Johnson Central probably

 

And there are a number of others whom I could see the game going either way. Boyle County is good, but they've yet to have a game that puts them in the top ten of the state much less the top five.

These are the teams I'd favor should they play today:

6a - Male/Trinity/Scott Co/S.Kenton/B.Station/Manual/St X

5a - BGreen

4a - JCentral/S.Warren

3a - none

2a - none

1a - none

 

I think it'd be a toss up vs McCracken Co, Ryle, Pulaski Co, Fern Creek, Desales. Belfry, Mayfield, Central, Lex Cath... Boyle could certainly beat any of those last 9, but, they could just as easily lose to them. They could also beat several of those teams above, but, imo, they'd lose more times than they'd win against them.

Danville has one of top programs in the state. I know they haven't been up to their normal standards recently but it seems they are playing solid ball now. I never underestimate Danville....their fans know their team and tell it like it is... they know football.

 

I wouldn't come on and say they have a chance unless I truly believed it. The Ads are really good this season.

Highlands' season has proven definitely that past success is no guarantee of current wins, in regards to your statement on Johnson Central. As for South Warren I know common opponents are not a perfect predictor of a match up but a 21 point difference with a defense that prevented any touchdowns vs a 2 point that went down to the wire certainly sells one team as stronger.

Honestly, I don't think DeSales would beat Boyle, but I do think that that they would play them closer than Danville did, considering the teams DeSales has beaten.

I just think Boyle is really good, and the are getting better with each game. I know Desales is good and better than Danville at this point in time. As for the teams I think Boyle would not have problems with is my opinion on things I have seen and heard. Good luck to the Colts the rest of the season.
