Yardage pretty close in the game. Something like 340 to 330 in favor of Beechwood. Stringer 21 carries for 125 yards. Slusher with a lot of big catches. Fieger with a good night. The big 3 are getting it done for Beechwood.

Does BW now go undefeated in the regular season? 6 of the remaining 7 games are in Fort Mitchell.

Cov Cath next week. Despite the records, that will be a battle.

 

Then New Cath to end the season.

I am very proud, and impressed, by this start to the season for Beechwood. At the start of the year, I thought Beechwood would be a huge underdog to Cov Cath. Now I believe that will be a very difficult game for Beechwood but they definitely can win it.

Very proud of the Tigers tonight. Great atmosphere to play a high school football game. I will say this about Ironton....I did not think those HUGE lineman would be able to maintain the effort it takes to play hard the whole game...THEY DID. The Ironton line was good. The Beechwood line held there own with Overstreet taking over in the 4th Quarter. Hats off to both teams. Lots of momentum swings. Unfortunately, the refs had some say in the momentum shifts. Beechwoods linebackers made more plays tonight. Soward played well. Sherron, Campbell made plays. Hermes had 600lbs worth of double teams most of the night and still made some plays. Slusher as always was the best player on the field. McKinney played a huge game defending the pass against a kid literally twice his height. Offensively, Beechwood was determined and for the most part executed well on the ground and through the air. A great team effort. Well done. They needed a game like this one....and they got it.

Heard Ironton's best back did not play. If so, that's a huge loss for Ironton against a team like Beechwood.

Made the trek. That was a long miserable drive home in the rain, but glad I went. What an awesome stadium and atmosphere. I'm still a sucker for a good HS band, and Ironton gets big kudos. Even has a special covers section in the endzone just for them. As for the game I'm not sure if you played it 10 times either team would have had an advantage. Guess Ironton was missing a stud RB, that could have made a difference as they seemed to be a little predictable on O. BW certainly had the speed advantage, and IMO Ironton did a good job using their significant size advantage early. Looked like as the game wore on BW was the better conditioned team, Stringer was able to pop the big one on the edge for the 2 TD advantage that wasn't there all game. I was impressed with each team, Ironton might be the best 0-3 team in the state. I would give the game ball to Kyle Fieger, he looked like a senior QB should look. Poised and in control, even though he was under significant pressure all night. On D Overstreet played like a D1 prospect. He had the size to match up, and had 3 huge sacks on the 4th quarter. Great game, great atmosphere. BW was significantly out sized along the lines, kudos to the entire line for battling. They just kept plugging. Not sure Tigers will see anything like that in 1a, at least from a sheer size standpoint.

Ironton being with out Paledino is a big blow. 5'10" 215-220 think he runs a high 4.3-low 4.4 40yd dash. Very tough RB and a really good DB. He was missed a great deal last night. In all honesty (and i am not an ironton fan by any stretch), he could take a TD or 2 away from BW and in return add a touch down or 2 for Ironton. But, imo, even with a healthy Paledino, BW is still a TD or two better than Ironton.

I would give the game ball to Kyle Fieger, he looked like a senior QB should look. Poised and in control, .

Slusher had 3 TD catches. I will keep saying this every week - he needs to be seriously considered for player of the year in N. Ky. He gets it done every week on both sides of the ball and special teams.
