September 11, 201511 yr Seeing that the Steelers went for and made the first 2pt conversion at the new 2 yard distance (of course the score dictated that they do) will we see many teams going for it anymore often than we would normally see? I read somewhere that NFL teams are well over 50% at 2 yards out scoring a TD. Seems to me, if you can make more that 50% of them you'd go for it every time.
September 11, 201511 yr Maybe teams will start putting in those wild formations you high school and college teams do on EP and then shift if they don't like the numbers to kick. I like it. 2 yards against a gassed defense with maybe a special set may become 100% for some teams.

Since a two point is attempted from the 2, and a 1 pt kick is attempted from the 15, you have to declare your intentions so the ball can be spotted. Don't think you can shift into a kicking formation if you are lined up at the two. Otherwise teams would line up one way every time then shift and kick, as it would get you 13 yards closer.
September 13, 201511 yr Author 2 extra point kicks already missed by half time of the 1:00 games. Now those teams will probably go for 2 to catch back up. I love this new rule of moving the EXP back.

September 13, 201511 yr I have a question about this. Is the drop kick still legal? Reason I ask is if it is very windy at a game then is it possible to line up for a 2 pt conversion and just drop kick it instead of trying a 32 yard extra point?

It is still legal, just not sure if you can do it from the 2 on extra points.
September 13, 201511 yr Author Found this... Despite speculation in some circles that the new rules will allow a team that opts to go for two points from the two to kick a one-point drop kick, the league office informs PFT that one point can be earned via drop kick only by a snap from the 15.
September 13, 201511 yr ^^ thank you. Wish they could do it from 2 yard line. That would make it fun to watch.
September 14, 201511 yr Browns made a 48 yd xp. Good to be known for something other than getting QB injured and losing the opener each year. I have a question about this. Is the drop kick still legal? Reason I ask is if it is very windy at a game then is it possible to line up for a 2 pt conversion and just drop kick it instead of trying a 32 yard extra point? I'd say if you see Jim Thorpe or Red Grange trot out on to the field the opposing team may want to anticipate a drop kick.

September 20, 201511 yr Author Interesting with a missed PAT early in the first games of this week there have now been 4 missed PAT kicks this season...there were only 8 all of last season. Steelers went for 2 on their first 2 TD's today and made both easily. It really put the Niners at a score disadvantage quickly being down 16 instead of 14. Coach Tomlin is on record of saying that he thinks they will make them at a higher than 50% rate which would mean that it would make sense to go for them more often than not. I think more and more coaches will go for them as the season goes along.
