If you knew anything about the situation, it wasn't up to the schools if they wanted to move up. They got no say in the matter. Kind of how public education works. Your board office makes the rules and is in charge, and you follow their decision. So, no they are no in charge of their own house.

Every thread all you say is blah blah blah blah blah. Cooper, Conner, and Boone are in 6A get over it man. Would THIS YEAR have been better for Cooper or Conner? Probably. Over the next 4 years would it have mattered? Not at all. I don't know if you realize this, but either team would have a VERY difficult time winning state in either class, and high school football is not solely based on winning a state championship. It is about teaching kids life lessons, preparing them to become men. Those are the real blessings in high school football. I bet you can't tell me all of the teams that won state in 2011 without looking it up. All I am saying is there is more to this game than winning state, which ultimately everyone forgets about in two years besides the people on that team. Quit beating a dead horse and move on.

 

Maybe you and some others can sell that garbage to the players and parents but it's garbage and you know it.

The Boone County BOE doesn't care about football or any other sport for that matter. I have a hard time believing someone over there telling 3 different schools where they would play. I know for a fact they didn't tell Boone.

Trinity, Bowling Green, Highlands, Central, Holy Cross and Mayfield. Off the top of my head.

But there are over 250 teams that don't win state every year, and they take a lot more out of high school football than a ring that they will never wear after they graduate.

I love how everyone assumes that they know why all of the Boone schools are playing in 6A this year. You are correct about one thing, the Boone County BOE doesn't care about football, or most sports, as you can tell by the facilities in Boone. What they do care about is money, and the money they gain and save by all of the Boone schools being in the same class. End of the story is this: Cooper and Conner are in 6A, not by choice. Staying in 5A would have helped Cooper's and Conner's chances this season for sure, but in the long run it wouldn't have mattered after this year. Neither team will back down from any team they play, and might take a couple lumps.

 

Honestly, though. If Cooper was defeated that badly by Bryan Station, would it matter if they are in 5A and have to eventually play Highlands again, or Pulaski again, or Bowling Green? Doubt it. So I say we move on to something more constructive

I agree that playing football is about more than titles. While that should be the goal for any team, a season is more about the journey than the destination.

 

However, I think you are underplaying how someone on a state champ team feels about winning. I know several people who get very nice display cases for their rings and consider them close to their hearts, memorabilia of an important time in their lives.

 

Also, small nitpick but if you are referring to Kentucky, there are only 215 teams that don't win a title every year.

I guess I will try to get back on topic,, the score was very one sided. I know it was probably hard to see ,, but was there any improvement noticeable in this years team from Conner? They had a pretty good result last week against Boone.

Not a Conner fan. Just tired of hearing about a SK team that under achieves ever year. Has SK ever won state or played for a state championship? Heck Lloyd, Bellevue and Connor have won state. I would put SK in the same class as Campbell County in regards to tradition.
