Beechwood 10 CovCath 7 (35th District Finals)

Featured Replies

Big comeback by the Tigers and their #10 player who I believe hit two homer runs. IMO the star of the game had to be the outfielders of Beechwood who threw two CovCath runners out at third trying to leg out an extra base (btw I would have done the same thing that Krumps did). CovCath played very well, and hit Curley hard, but Beechwood kept coming back and in the bottom of the sixth took the lead for the first time. If CovCath continues to hit and field like they did today, I wouldn't be surprised to see Beechwood and CovCath in the 9th Regions again this year... Congrats to the Tigers on a great game.....

What an exciting game to watch. The game started out great for the Colonels getting capitalizing on 3 errors for BW (credit to them), and a solo shot by Timmy. But BW bats got hot at the right time. Sawyer starting their scoring out with a 3 run shot in the 4th, then a couple more in the sixth on some good base running and an error on a squeeze play, then Pat Muth with the 3 run homer to put them up for good.

It was an awesome game to watch, and glad to see BW finally beat CCH and get the monkey off their back.....Good luck to the Colonels in the regionals, I'm sure BW will see them again.

18 runs given up in 2 gamed does not bode well for CCH's region hopes.

Agreed, but look at who they gave up the 18 runs up to. Cov Holy Cross and Beechwood aren't exactly chopped liver, and remember CovCath scored a total of 19 runs against those two teams, who have better than average high school pitching..... Do I think they will win the 9th Region? No, because of the their pitching? No, but because of not executing the big play when they need it. CovCath, for what ever reason, comes up short on the defensive side of the field at the most unfortunate times of the game, while a team like Beechwood makes that big play on the defensive side of the game when they need to.......

Pitching is without a doubt CCH's weakness, but I think with their seniors, and their hitting, they are still a dangerous team.

Did they both use legal pitchers today? Just kidding. Sounds like an exciting game full of big plays. I agree that both could be in the Finals of the Region.

Congrats Beechwood!!! The Birds are rooting for you!

Good one Hilltopper!!! BTW - what does IMO mean, forgive my ignorance in today's world of shorthand!

IMO - In my opinion

Thank you.

Congrats to Tim Tieney who hit his 1st Home Run ever tonight over the right field wall!! Looks like the colonels need pitching to step up, because hitting hasn't been a problem. I think Krumps was a little conservative on the bases early on and I also think he left Farrell in too long. I would have pulled him after the 5th. Houlahan had to come in with the game close instead of having some comfort with a 3 or 4 run lead. Oh well, Just have to get the Beechies when it really counts.

Congats to the Tigers!!

Good Luck to all the Teams in next weeks Regionals!

Wow sounds like a great game...I was unable to attend but sounds like it turned out to be a heck of a game. I know I drove by Meinken and when I did it was only 1-0 in the 2nd or 3rd inning (correct me if i'm wrong). Sounds like the bats came alive for both teams. Congrats to the Beechies and keep your heads up colonels.

I listened to the game on COV-CATH internet radio and again I said it earlier in the season Beechwood plays the best small ball of any team I know. I wish both the Tigers and Colonels best of luck Monday in the Region opener. Good Luck. JD

Big innings are the downfall of CCH. 7 in the 6th last night. About that many agaisnt St Henry Friday night. Boone put 6 up on them late a few weeks ago.

Offense is clicking. The combo of pitching and D need to step it up quickly.
