Owensboro High School 7 Owensboro Catholic 3

WOW!

OHS (8-22) stunned OCHS (23-5) ending their season. It looks like the 3rd Region is wide open now. This is the first year since 1998 that Apollo has not made the regional tournament, and the first year since 2002 that both Apollo and Owensboro Catholic did not advance to region.

Did O'Boro Catholic try to throw their #2 or 3 to get by O'boro or did they throw their ace?

Wow, you just never know in High School Baseball.

I've seen O-Cath play several times in the past. Hard to believe this one!!! Congrats to the OHS.

I don't know who pitched for Catholic put their #2 pitcher Neil Holland is pretty dang good, I'd say almost on par with their #1 Justin Marks.

I do find it interesting that Owensboro went with Cole Sturgeon, an 8th grader. Some of you may remember the name from Williamsport a few years ago.

OK I made a call. Catholic's #1 Justin Marks started the game but was replaced in the 4th inning by their #2 Neil Holland.

Sometimes you just never know. Baseball games are so much harder to call than any other sport. Great pitcher has an off day or a .220 hitter hits a bomb. Ya just never know.

Where will he go next year? Will he go to O'Boro Catholic?

Has Owensboro Catholic won a (non All-A) state title in any male sport? I know their softball team rocked a few years ago. Anyone?

He is not the big kid that pitched that last game was he?

I believe they won the baseball state title in 1985.
