8675309
Is this another site you have to pay to be ranked? In my opinion Brennan Hall should be a little higher, and Adam Kunkel from Cooper is the best 2018 player in NKY. I assume he didn't even make the list? I would agree with that, but I know there are kids on that list who haven't been seen. It's great people try to rank players. Just would be much better if they did their homework. They have kids listed in the top 50 that aren't even the top two or three players on their own high school team. Just not a very good ranking system. Just not a very good ranking system. What are those kids who are better than the ranked ones doing (or not doing) to get exposure? If they're not playing high level AAU and attending camps, then they're hard to scout. If you expect scouts to drop in at high school open gyms on the regular, that just doesn't happen anymore. Most rankings are done during AAU events and the bigger HS events like KOB, the Lexington Catholic tournament, etc.

I see kids ranked and think of kids who aren't ranked that I think are deserving of a rank but they didn't play AAU nor did they attend any camps. It will be interesting to see where they fall once the season gets underway.
8675309
I can see that to some degree. However Adam Kunkel had an unbelievable AAU summer. Had a great state tournament, played in four other NCAA certified exposure tournaments against high level competition such as Georgia United, Louisville Majic, St Loius Eagles etc. with that being said he is no where to be found on the rankings list. Where, other than the camps does a kid like him need to go to get "exposure" to be ranked. There is one kid on the list that played one tournament all season due to an injury. Tournament wasn't even in Kentucky. Went to no summer exposure camps. Not a great player, yet is on the list? I know it's hard to see everyone, but if you want people to take the rankings seriously, it has to be a little more accurate.

It will be interesting to see where they fall once the season gets underway. Here is the other thing people must always remember when you view rankings.....Depending on the source many rankings weigh their value system based on the level of competition they observe a player. So it is not only whether and how often they see a player, but the level of competition that a player performs against. Many rankings are not how good of a high school player, but rather where a player projects on the college scene. This scouting service is geared toward college recruiting so if somebody has not been observed playing against other college prospects, it becomes difficult to give a high ranking because you have no idea how they will perform when they face that competition. Tons of great high school players never play at a high level of college basketball because the skill sets, size, speed, and strength required are very different. Other rankings such as High School All District and All Region teams or even All State teams factor high school performance at a premium.

So many rankings are based on potential at the college level. There are a lot of 6'2 kids in KY who can throw in 20 PPG and grab 8 RPG. There aren't many 6'6 and taller kids in Kentucky who can put the ball on the floor on the perimeter and attack the rim. So that's why you see a Jaylen Sebree or Trace Young ranked really highly. They project as big time college players.

If these kids are on the list, they have been seen. I know that for a fact. Kunkel may not have been seen yet as he isn't really known outside of NKY. And FWIW, I wouldn't take him as the best soph in NKY. Nice player and definitely up there with the others, but not the best. Brennan Hall had a REALLY good showing at the NUR Showcase against other top kids older than him. His ranking is deserved. Had a great summer. I don't think he's the best college prospect of that NKY group, but right now he can hold his own with anyone.
Walter
Where does the kid play? I've never heard of him. Cooper. Got extended mins this past season as a freshman. Right around 5'10-5'11 and can shoot the ball well. Lacks the overall athleticism that some of these other kids have but plays the game with a high IQ. He will be known eventually, but I can see why he wouldn't be on a list like this yet.

I always thought you were very educated about NKY sports. Obviously you know very little about the class of 2018 to say you could see why he would not have made the list. He has just started growing. Now at 6-1. Dad is 6-6. Put size with his lights out shooting, great handles, and BB IQ, he will be extremely good. Again, he is the best NKY player 2018 class (in my opinion)with Brennan Hall close behind. Love both their games Hoop dreams, you would probably recognize him to see him as he put up 33pts on your A team at the state tournament when the Shining Stars beat your team. Blonde haired wing play, two guard. You don't forget faces like that.
