December 3, 201510 yr I feel sorry for people who are not watching this show. I have been desperately trying to get friends to watch. I can't figure out what they're thinking! Personally, I think if you can get someone to watch the "here be dragons" scene from season 1 they are hooked.
December 3, 201510 yr I love reading about this show after the fact to see all the stuff I missed. The characters are so "alive" that all I do is watch and enjoy. Last week I totally missed that when Hanzi shot those dudes, he shot them in the knee, giving them their own "wounded knee." The attention to detail is incredible, they should just give every Emmy to this show. Best show on T.V., far and away.

I'm curious as to where they're going with the alien/UFO thing though.
December 3, 201510 yr It is fantastic. I'm curious as to where they're going with the alien/UFO thing though. Me too. I proposed a sort of answer earlier in the thread, but the truth is idk. They could just go nowhere with it, leave it as something mysterious, never answered. I read somewhere that there were a lot of UFO sightings in that area and era, so maybe that is all it will be. Without the ufo stuff, this would be the best show on tv. As it stands, it is the best show on tv with some weird aspect that appears to make no sense. So yeah, I'm curious too.

Do you think the Sheriff's home office has something to do with the alien angle?
December 3, 201510 yr Do you think the Sheriff's home office has something to do with the alien angle? Has to somehow I think. I think this show is set in 1979? There was a Minnesota Sheriff's Deputy who "lost time" due to a UFO encounter in 1979. Val Johnson if you want to google. But yeah, has to have something to do with it. Also, in the bar Hanzee went to, there were symbols all along the top of the wall, though peeps are saying those were ranch symbols. Finally, in addition to the hangman game in the phonebooth Ed used, there are frames in the cabin showing Ed standing next to one of the windows, and the cord used to pull the drapes is a big noose. Crazy little bits of foreshadowing.

December 10, 201510 yr Got caught up last night. This show is awesome on so many levels. Only 1 episode remains this season :irked:
December 10, 201510 yr I am looking forward to this last episode very much. The UFO last week was both unexpected, and expected. What does it mean? I don't know, to me it represents some Mystery, and may not have any answer provided in the series. And that is cool with me. The show has been constantly exploring themes about "what is the meaning of life in this world" The exploration of the impact of the Vietnam war fits into this, the references to Albert Camus, Peggy's road to "realization" (LOL), along with all the decisions made and acts done by the characters. I feel bad for Lou, I think he is about to lose his father-in-law and his wife, and is likely to be the only survivor. My guess is that he looks at the world, and says the only thing that matters is his child, Molly, which would have him in place to make the decision that we already know he makes from season 1. Emmys for everyone in this show or there is no justice or meaning in the world.
December 10, 201510 yr I didn't realize the narrator in this last episode was the main character from last season. Martin Freeman - IMDb

I don't think we'll find out anything else about the UFO. I'm ok with that too. I kinda hope his father in law lives.
December 10, 201510 yr Cool part of the last scene with Ted Danson was "See you Sunday?" or whatever he said even though it looks like there will be no more Sundays.
December 10, 201510 yr Cool part of the last scene with Ted Danson was "See you Sunday?" or whatever he said even though it looks like there will be no more Sundays. Yeah, a line like that is usually the kiss of death lol. Danson was really good in this.
December 10, 201510 yr I wonder if they will stick with the same theme and profile Danson's character in his earlier years for next season?
December 10, 201510 yr I didn't realize the narrator in this last episode was the main character from last season. Martin Freeman - IMDb I saw after the episode that Martin Freeman was a special guest, but I didn't catch that he was the narrator.
