mcpapa
Lonnell Dewalt went to Kentucky as well to play football but Leroy is a year older and went to Kentucky as well. Dewalt was 6'6, Wilson was about 6'4 Gotcha.:thumb:
ColonelCrazy
Still think if Wes Jones plays in that 04 championship game, Mason wins that state title as well. I disagree -- Mason had an emotional game in the Final 4 vs. Trinity -- didn't it go to 2OT? They were out of gas.
OpieTaylor
I disagree -- Mason had an emotional game in the Final 4 vs. Trinity -- didn't it go to 2OT? They were out of gas. Actually I think they had a player that was recovering from mono, a player that was playing with the flu and I think that Saturday morning game went to triple ot. Nonetheless, still say, Jones plays, they win.

JesusShuttlesworth
Mason Co basically played an extra game in the '04 state tournament. They beat Scott County in the elite 8 in overtime on Friday, triple overtime game against Trinity Saturday morning, and then a tremendous Warren Central team for the championship Saturday night. With the new format, which would have led to extra rest, and Wes Jones I think Mason Co becomes only the 7th team ever to win back to back. Regardless though, that Mason Co team from '03-'04 may be one of the top all time teams to play in the state.
DragonFire
Every time I read about the rest aspect, I always have to remind that Warren Central played AFTER Mason County that day. While Mason County had a longer game, they were already resting while Central was still playing. The Dragons had less time between games than did Mason County, and played a pretty short rotation. I'm not so bold as to claim that Wes Jones might not have made a difference, but the rest aspect is wildly overblown. Every single team Mason County played was playing on shorter rest than them, even if Mason County had played longer.
gold sunrise
Who do you think are the top 5 teams and players from the 10th region in the last 20 years. My list Teams: 1. Mason Co 2003 2. Mason Co 2004 3. Mason Co 2008 4. Montgomery Co 2013 5. GRC 2011 Players: 1. Chris Lofton - Mason Co 2. Darius Miller - Mason Co 3. Preston Knowles - GRC 4. Omar Prewitt - Montgomery Co 5. Preston LeMaster - Bourbon Co I can agree with your teams. Also got to mention the GRC 2012 team. After all we had graduated the year before no one thought we had a chance to repeat. Not sure how much we beat Mason Co in the finals but at one point we had a 30 point lead. Think we won by 20 something. Now on the players, the 10th region has been blessed with some great players. I can't believe no one has mention Keaton Belcher. He will always be one of my favorite. He had a very good career at Belmount. Another no one is mentioning is Wes Burtner of GRC class of 1998. He to played at Belmount and was the all time leading scorer, rebounder and assists, until last year when his scoring record was finally broken. He is now AD assistant at Belmount. On the Myricks, heck I loved them all. That family had some talent.
