Netflix: Wet Hot American Summer

Featured Replies

Loved this movie from 2001. They somehow got the original cast back together (Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Molly Shannon, Ken Merino, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Elizabeth Banks, David Hyde Pierce, Janeane Garofalo, Christopher Meloni) to do an eight episode season. It's available today. Looking forward to watching it.

Anyone else?

Can't wait to see it. Should be solid with the original cast and writers on the task.

Saw this on Netflix tonight. I never saw the original, but might have to check this out. Guess I should start with the movie first?

Yeah, it's been tempting me with promos every time I log in. I'll be checking this out and, I'm sure, enjoying it.

The David Wain/Michael Showalter/Michael Ian Black triumvirate is hilarious.

There's a ton of other interesting big names also scheduled to appear who weren't in the flick. Paul Scheer, Jon Hamm, Michael Cera, Weird Al, Jordan Peele are just a few.

Yes.

Binged it this morning. Ridiculously hilarious.

I didn't know they got the original cast back. I gotta watch this

I'd love it if they found a way to get Charlie Day into this.

As long as it doesn't take him away from Sunny.

Watched them all the first day it came out. I loved it.

This whole thing (movie and mini-series) is designed to be so bad that it's so good. This one hit the mark for me. I binged watched the whole thing yesterday and am bummed that I'm finished. Definitely will watch these again.

I've finished it as well and really got a kick out of it. It was hilarious enough to see all of them play 16- and 17-year-olds in 2001. It's completely ludicrous now and they toyed with it in just the right way.

As with the movie, Paul Rudd steals the show at times because that character is just amazing.

Didn't see the original movie which probably explains why I thought it was terrible. And from looking at the reviews on Netflix my two star rating is in popular company.

No middle ground on this series, just like the film. People either love it or they hate it.

But I have to ask Guru, what would be the benefit of seeing something designed as a prequel related to an existing story without getting that story first?

The movie is a "cult classic" for a reason. It was not popular and really isn't a good movie, but for a core group of people who love that style of humor it was legendary.
