Private poll so that you can vote without fear of others knowing.

 

I ask this since the Planned Parenthood group is back in the news as well as others voicing concern over how upset we get over issues like a lion getting killed vs what PP was caught on video saying.

 

As some of you long-timers know I am against abortion BUT cannot support making it illegal. I wonder how many share my view so....

I'm personally against it. Could never be on board with it unless my wife would die otherwise. Problem is my beliefs aren't the same as everyone else's. Legal.

From a moral standpoint, I'm against it. From a legal standpoint, I think the parent(s) have the right to choose. Now, I would impose some type of limitation on when the abortion could be done (i.e. not in the last trimester).

I think the US law system should not give the option to let women choose to commit murder. Same punishment as committing murder.

Abortion and related issues only come up in during federal election cycles. Abortion is a sin against God, but no level of legislation is going to keep people from sinning. This whole process is just a front to manipulate religious conservative voters to vote against their personal interests, believing they are making a choice for God, when they are just being exploited.

 

We need to focus reducing the footprint of government, reducing mass incarceration, securing and militarising our borders and congressional term limits. Abortion is mass distraction. If the GOP ever actually did something about it, they would lose a campaign issue!

Because making abortion illegal will not stop people from having abortions. If you want to stop people from having abortions, you have to change hearts and minds, and that is NOT the job of government! It is the job of Christian communities everywhere!

Disagree. Might not stop them all, but would many. And hey, just might make it a little easier for the thousands of couples out there who are looking to adopt every year to do so. I was adopted in 1966. Who knows, had a come along just a few years later, it's very possible I wouldn't be on this keyboard right now.

Are you being serious? Is this a universal opinion, or does it just apply to abortion?

 

Lots of people are against tattoos, does that mean they should be illegal? Same with drinking, or smoking, or hunting.

This kind of punitive mentality is why we have 25% of the worlds incarcerated population when we have 5% of the worlds population. At $50k/yr/inmate that is where government needs to be focused.

In 2012 there were 8,855 deaths in the US by firearms.

 

In 2012 there were approximately 1.02M abortions in the US.

 

You do no good to your position posting made up information and passing it off as fact.
