Seau's Family Not Allowed to Speak at Pro Football HOF Induction

Dont they have a lawsuit filed against the NFL? Wouldnt let them speak either if that was the case.

Why not?

Why?

The HOF changed their policy a few years ago that if the inductee was deceased, they would just show a video. Apparently they felt that the speeches given by the relatives of the deceased just repeated many of the things in the video. So they eliminated the speech to cut down on time.

In 2011 no one spoke for Les Richter either as he was deceased.

Always liked Seau as a player. Some of these speeches are pretty bad but I'd like to hear this one. As a football fan, I'd love to know more about Seau.

On the other hand, I know that anything prepared would have to be approved by a trillion lawyers and that could still go sideways up on the podium.

The policy to not have a speech by relatives of a deceased inductee is a few years old. Nothing new just for Seau. As I posted earlier, same policy was in effect when Les Richter was inducted in 2011.

While the thread title makes it sound like it's unique to Seau's family, it is not. The lawsuit has nothing to do with the policy.

Repeating information that was in the article :thumb:

How many questions could be answered if we all just clicked on the link in the threads lol.

Sometimes links dont get past work filters. Or in this case there are so many pop ups from the site that you cant read the darn article.

I'm one of the worst because I don't often click on a link posted here to read more. Occasionally do, but it has to really interest me.

What is this "work" of which you speak?
