September 10, 201511 yr The problem with the deal its potential effect on the petro-dollar. Saudi Arabia ensures OPEC only sells oil in US / Federal Reserve Dollars. The keeps the US/FR Dollar as the worlds reserve currency. In exchange for this the US is supposed to protect Saudi Arabia from the crazies in the region - like Iran. If Iran goes nuclear and Saudi Arabia can not count on the US then there is little reason for it to back the US/FR Dollar in the long run. It will slowly (or not) dump the Dollars and then pull the plug. And that will be a real bad day for the US and a large part of the world.
