A real question... What does it mean for a non-senior to receive an offer? Can the school back out? Can the player accept the offer before their senior year? Do schools ever just change their mind?

 

I think ally is awesome and totally deserving of the offer. This has nothing to do with her. She is a sophomore so I'm wondering how it works.

Nothing is final until the LOI is signed and returned.

The NCAA does not recognize verbal offers/commitments. They only recognize NLI signings, which can't happen until November of Junior year of high school. Offers and commitments are very important part of the process, but offers can be pulled, and commitments can turn into de-commitments at the drop of a hat, with no consequence from the NCAA.

I think early signing period is in November of their senior year not Junior year.

As others have said , in the end it means nothing right now. My guess is Xavier will continue to pursue her and hope she commits. Neither is obligated.

 

Schools do change their mind. We saw it with X and James Bolden.

. It is my understanding that the student can call anytime. A lot of parents get letters of interest and think that means they already being recruited by said school and most times that is not the case.

Happens everyday, until you are sitting at the table signing your LOI, it's wide open! It's a business, colleges know when to pull the plug per se.

I really think she is gonna be one of the best to come out of this area when it is all said and done. Have no ties to her whatsoever just love her game. IMO needs to work on quickness, footspeed, and defense. Hope Im not overstating it but I think she will go to top school right below the big 3 or 4. UConn, Notredame, Stanford, etc. Think she could play at like say Tennessee. Dont think she has the height to go to one of the biggest schools, but it would be cool to see it!

OK.... so I hate to rain on this parade but I have to ask CooperRyle. You stated that she is one of the best ever to come out of this area but she doesn't have the height, speed, quickness or is very good on defense. What am I missing? I also no she isn't a very good shooter.

I think we are over inflating the young girl. I hope she does excellent and should jump at the Xavier scholarship first second she can. I know a lot about the pressure at a division 1 program and I have to tell you. If you don't have speed, athleticism, quickness or a lock down defender you better be 6' 5" or better in the girls game or it will be a very short career.

 

I hope she does well and proves me wrong because I hope every kids gets to live out that dream. But overhype can be a problem as well.
