AverageJoesGym
2 Clinton 2 Obama 2 Reagan 2 GW Bush 1 GHW Bush They in a lot of cases vote the way it looks like they would, but John Roberts Appointed by GW Bush as Chief Justice has been the swing vote on Obamacare and Same Sex Marriage Kennedy is actually more of a wild card than Roberts. Roberts did vote for Obamacare in 2012 and last week. He was the deciding vote in 2012 but last week's vote was 6-3 so it would been saved without his support. He voted against gay marriage last week--Kennedy was the deciding vote.
Getslow
Why did Souter retire at a relatively young age and in good health in 2009? Never understood that move. The story I always heard was that he was so disgusted by what he saw as the politicized decision in Bush v. Gore, in which he joined the dissent, that he nearly quit the court in 2001. I think the nature of the court never sat well with him and I sometimes find myself surprised he stayed as long as he did.

Which is fine, I hate when Justices only vote one political ideology.
