You realize the best player in America could play for a team with a losing record. That doesn't diminish what that player is, just that his team sucks. It's takes quite a few high level guys on the same team to compete nationally.

So again, pardon me if I believe recruiting is based on potential and should be treated with some skepticism.

In the interest of discussion: we all know recruiting and rankings are based on camps/combines and not on the field of play. Players are recruited and commit to college scholarship offers from these events. If this is how players are ranked and recruited, how else do we, as fans, determine how players from one state compare to players from other states?

Trinity was 5-5 before the playoffs this season and won state championship game by 30 points. Im talking about the kids playing right now.

 

Even if you only consider last year a 0.500 out of state record is incorrect. Four of Trinity's wins and three of their losses were out of state. In regular season they had 4-3 (0.571) out of state record, and a 1-2 (0.333) in state record.

Maybe you need to be more definitive in time frame. How convenient to grab the worst Trinity team in the last decade and mention how KY's best doesn't compete with other states.

I apologize I was trying to give context and reasons for my arguments, so it would not come off as purely my opinion. I wish no ill will towards Mr. Jackson, never even said he was a bad player, just that I am skeptical that he is without a doubt the best center in the entire country in the 2016 class. But when it devolves to making fun instead of trying to have a discussion time to move on to a new thread.

Whats particularly interesting if you scroll to the bottom is the analysis. For example, there are no longer any kids from the HS class of 2009 with college eligibility. Of the 33 5 star recruits in that class only 16 (48%) were ever drafted and only 3 (9%) were 1st round picks. And these rankings are determined by someone whose fulltime job it is to evaluate these kids. Cant say the recruiting gurus were very successful and the numbers for other classes are very similar.

But your argument is a very limited time frame to propose that your hypothesis holds weight. You stated the best center could not come from KY. You might be right, but picking one season by Trinity to defend it is not very conclusive. Historically you might be right that Ohio or CA or TX usually has the best of the best. But every now and then a Dermontii Dawson shows up. :thumb:

Seen an article where Jackson had dropped in the rankings by rivals?

He had been 244 and now is not in the top 250. I believe he's the second ranked center in the country. I'm thrilled that UK will be getting him and Young!

You can't say the Woodford O-line isn't doing their job. They rush for 319 a game. Madison Central held them to 143 last week. When I saw them, the guys looked impressive for high school, and I could see them all becoming something bigger in a college weight program.
