Interested in where you have heard that? All I have heard as how good he has looked in the pocket and how he has a natural feel in the pocket. Knowing when to slide to the side in the pocket and when to get out of the pocket. Also have heard how he has looked great going through his progressions and getting off his first and second read and going to his third read when needed. Which is Daltons biggest problem of locking in on one guy and never going through progressions.

 

So I am not saying you are wrong, I'm just interested where you have heard that or read it. Because I would like to read that too, because that is a problem if true.

The only loss in the playoffs that he really hurt us was the 2nd half of the Chargers game. he made some bad throws in the Houston games, but he also played well enough at times. last year he actually played about as well as he could with flat out no receivers.

If you don't see that the Bengals don't completley believe in him as evident as how they set up his contract then you haven't been paying attention. Mike Brown set it up this way to get rid of him if he doesn't improve and get them over the hump. He is a smart business man and is not going to pay him top dollar that his contract will demand for average to below play.

 

Also we must watch a different qb, because when do you see him go through progressions? When have you seen him look at one side of the field and then work his way back to the other side? It's been very rare the times he has done that. He does a decent job with his pre read at the line of scrimmage, however he struggles big time when people take away the pre read at the snap and he had a very hard time getting off that receiver. He is very poor with his progressions. His quick release time stems from locking in on his pre read before the snap and throwing it even if the guy is open or not.

 

As for the playoff games, he has sucked in three of the four. I don't count last year either because he basically had no chance with all the injuries that day. He played bad the first Houston game but Houston was just better. The 2nd Houston game was bad again and yet he had a chance to win it and badly over threw Green. San Diego second half was horrible. Just like his play against any top team especially prime time games.

He has such a drastic drop off from when the Bengals play bad to average teams, to good teams or prime time games. That it does have me convinced we could have a lot of qbs who would do just as well and get wins still against bad to average teams because the overall roster is good. However in the NFL if he want to beat other top teams consistently you need a good qb, and need one most of the time for playoff runs. We don't have that, and I do believe we would still beat the bad to average teams without him and then it could go either way agaisnt the good teams, but it is a chance worth taking.

As I mentioned before I have seen everyone talk about how great AJ McCarron has looked in the pocket, so still suprising that Skinner says it looked like he had happy feet. Others have reported how good he looks in the pocket and knowing when to slide up in the pocket and when to get out. Here is another report talking about how good he looked.

Dalton is not a horrible qb, but I know I am ready for them to take the risk to see if someone else could get them over the hump even though it could backfire. Its worth the chance.

Andy Dalton has the shhhhhhhh factor. Hopefully they can work together to make something special this season.

Dalton has won a lot of game with a similar skill set that McCarron has. However I do believe McCarron's leadership abilities would be better, and his mental approach in big moments would be better. Obviously he would have to prove it on the field, which he could fail. However I am willing for the Bengals to take that chance.
