Sharks disrupting my vacation

Another kid in waist to chest deep water...this time at Daytona Beach:

Boy from Ga. bitten by shark at Daytona Beach

I've been swimming at Crescent Beach (just south of St. Augustine) on more than one occasion where sharks were a couple hundred yards out.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news but it's more like they were a couple of feet out.

I was a beach lifeguard the summer that Jaws was released (yes, I'm that old). Chesapeake Bay area. Someone thought they saw "a fin" way out in the channel. Saw the news that evening and turned out it was a massive sea turtle.

Still took a bit of cajoling to get folks to swim the next day.

I blame Wireman.... You come on BGP showing pictures of the sharks you caught, tick off the shark community and now the attack is on. Coincidence? I think not....

Actually...the suspect shark is exactly like the one I caught. I'm just saying...

Interesting. I did not see any sharks when I was searching through your house this week. By the way. Who is La Don?

You'd have better luck getting something of value out of my brothers house.

Actually getting in the ocean is extremely over rated. Nothing more than knee deep for me. If I want to swim or hang out in the water I go to the pool.

This. Day 2 of our honeymoon in St. Lucia the wife got stung by a jellyfish in the ocean. Spent the rest of our time by the pool. :lol2:

I plan on pulling up his astro turf this weekend.

Just take some tuna filets with you and throw them near the other swimmers while your in the water, the sharks will leave you alone.

That would be funny! And yes, my brothers back yard is all astro turf.

One of the lovely duties that was part and parcel of being a beach lifeguard was arriving early and fishing out - by hand - all the jellyfish that were anywhere near the swimming area, then burying them in the sand well away from where the swimmers would be. Fun stuff.

And back then the best cure for a jellyfish sting was this:
