June 6, 201511 yr Seems crazy to disban the police force without public discussion. But the budget could be a problem. I think for a lot of small towns it would make sense to have county or larger city police do the work.

June 6, 201511 yr Just watched the video. That is CRAZY! Why would the other council members back this lunatic and her criminal son? If she wins re-election, that city gets what it deserves. This kind of stuff makes my blood boil. Her cowardly son, who likes to hit women, is going to someday kill someone when he should have been in jail.
June 6, 201511 yr There's a little bit more to it than just an angry city councilwoman. She certainly had a bone to pick but the town and department were in bad financial shape. The town had been in negotiation with a neighboring town for months to have them take over policing Wellston due to budget concerns. Wellston is only a total of 596 acres and is financially strapped. They were only paying their police officers $14 an hour with no benefits and they had to buy all of their own equipment. The displaced officers have been invited to apply for a job with the Vinita Park Police Department who will be taking over Wellston as well as Vinita Terrace.
