Beechwood 3 Brossart 1 - 9th/10th "A" Sectional

Featured Replies

Beechwood prevails 3-1 in pitchers battle.

Beechwood scores two runs in second on two bunt singles and tack on one in the third on a Chris Curly 0-2 lead-off single/wild pitch/single to complete the Beechwood scoring.

Brossart produced a run in the fifth on a pair of Chas Moore walks and a Jimmy Uebel basehit. Kyle Frimming loaded the bases with two outs on an infield single and Kyle Kramer was called out on a questionable called third strike to end the Mustang threat.

The Mustangs chased Chas Moore in the sixth as Brad Seiter walked and Chirs Simon singled. Reliever Chris Curly promptly walked Matt Lloyd to once again load the bases with Mustangs prior to Tyler Verst poping out for the third out, stranding three.

Brossart left 8 runners on base in the ballgame, Beechwood left 3.

Nathan Mutsch pitched a brilliant complete game for the Mustangs, allowing three runs on six hits, he struck out 10 Red and White Tigers and didn't issue a free pass. Mutsch struck out the side in the top of the seventh.

Chas Moore gets the win, going 5 and 2/3rds, giving up a run on five hits, four strikeouts, and three bases on balls. Curly, in relief went one and a third giving up no runs, one hit, issuing a walk, and striking out two.

Beechwood advances to play Pikeville next Saturday, May 6th at 5:30pm.

Very good game. Both pitchers threw great and there was solid defense, just an overall great game by both teams.

Nathan Meutsch seemed to have his stuff today. He seemed to be throwing his hardest in the later innings. He is good and is only a junior.

Chris Curly made a great play at third base (I think it was in the bottom of the fifth) when the Mustangs had a guy on first and second and he kept a ball from going down the 3rd base line that would have definitely scored one and possibly two.

Does anyone have a copy of the All "A" Classic bracket? Who will Beechwood be playing next?

Pikeville.

Thank you, looks like the tigers will have a good chance to advance to the final four. They have had some great pitching lately.

Good game by both and best of luck to the Beechies down state!!

You are right.

Pikeville is no where near where thay have been in the past.

Beechwood could probably pitch their #4 pitcher against Pikeville this year.

They are down.

Pretty big statement MTNFAN...:irked:

Pikeville has some wins over some good teams and good pitchers. I think saying Beechwood can just walk over them is a big mistake. Not to mention all fields are equal when Chase Huffman steps on the mound.

We like being the underdog...Makes winning even better.

I was not meaning to make it seem as if Pikeville was a bad team. I know the Beechies lost to them 2 years ago, when Pikeville had a great sophomore pitcher on the mound. Do you know if he will be pitching against them this time?

He's still good, he's our ace...Whether he's pitching or not...I don't know. Pikeville beat Curley two years ago, in this very same game. Not meaning anything by that, just saying...This IS a very different Pikeville team. They are young, and inexperienced, but saying Beechwood can come out and throw their four against us, would be a stretch. They are tough, and play hard, and they want to win!

I was mainly talking to MTNFAN, nky...
