Beechwood 6 Ludlow 5 (All A 9th Region Final)

No he wasn't. And if you don't think there is a huge difference between the 90s BW saw over the weekend and what was being thrown up there in this one, you go stand in the box and face both. That's brilliant coaching, and exactly what I would do against that team. Velocity is irrelevant on the top end, many of those BW hitters see upper 80s low 90s all summer. They don't see high 50s and low 60s. Hard enough to hit it, add in the ump calling the strikes 5 inches off the plate and it worked great.

For one he threw in the high 60's and low 70's the whole game and he even topped out at 74 mph. Plus the BW pitcher's got a lot more calls than Eads did, especially late in the game. I believe that BW doesn't want to face the fact that Ludlow almost beat them so instead of giving the Panthers their credit when it's due, you just make excuses to why Ludlow even had a shot in the first place. It was a great game but it's over now and there's nothing that can be done now, other than to move on.

I am extremely impressed at the way Ludlow baseball is playing. I have a sibling currently playing for Ludlow and the thing I am even more impressed with is the impact Coach Gray is making on the kids. W or L's, he's going about teaching them the right way to handle things in life, and that is a far more valuable lesson than how to field a ground ball.

Lol. Ok. If that helps you sleep at night.

Sorry but you do sound like someone with excuses. Read coach Gray's post again then look in the mirror and try to be a better Tiger fan.

Im sure glad the rest of the tiger fans on here are not like you. You definitely have made excuses, when in reality is it is very debatable on who the strike zone was favoring more. Obviously from a Beechwood fan stance it sure does look like more calls were going Ludlow's way, and I bet from a Ludlows fan stance they would feel more calls in the strike zone was favoring Beechwood. So stop with the excuses.

This is what is great about baseball, you can be one of the best baseball teams but on any given day a team could lose. Just like the 2004 CovCath team that lost to Ludlow in the first round of the districts. CovCath was the better team but that day they were not. For this Beechwood game, it was a game Ludlow played better than Beechwood for most of it. However at the end of the day Beechwood made the plays when it mattered at the end. It was a great baseball game and Beechwood made the plays to win, its no more no less. You actually take away from Beechwoods win and ability to make the plays at the end with some of the excuses that has been made.

Which is exactly why you throw a different style of pitcher. All part of baseball.

Ludlow is 2 or 3 players and/or pitchers away from having a really special team.

Unfortunately, it seems they always have to replace 2 or 3 seniors every year and haven't been deep enough (because of numbers) to overcome those losses in talent and leadership.

Hopefully with Coach Gray in charge...more JV kids will develop into true Varsity level players as time goes on.
