Beechwood 8 Turpin 1 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

Baby Tigers moved to 4-0 by beating the Spartans of Turpin. Brayden Burch pitched a complete game.

A complete game this time of the year? Who is his coaching this team?

How many pitches is question one.

How much has he been throwing already this year is question two.

I have seen this comment about kids pitching too much early in more than a couple threads. If the kid has been throwing indoors for the past two months, is it a problem if he throws an 80 pitch complete game on March 29?

No, its not, if his season ends May 1, I am guessing it does not, so with all the research and proven facts that are out there, I hope the young man can play another position because its a matter of time with pitching that many pitches that would possibly jeopardize his pitching career, especially if he is throwing that many pitches indoors since January, and if he threw less than 40-50 pitches in his complete game, great job!! Unfortunately, it hurts the kid in the long run, not the coach.

Nailed it. No issues at all with 70 or 80 pitches this time of year as long as there was proper prep, and the outing was closely monitored. Yesterday was also a nice day, so it should have been easy to get and stay loose. Every kid is different though, and you can't really throw a blanket number over everyone as to how many pitches are too many.

This outing, the boy was under 80 pitches and he also throws a lot of knuckle balls. There was little stress, the weather was warm, he's been throwing bullpen since December. Blanket statements are dangerous.

I'm curious. who is the manager of the freshman team?
