Question about Michael Brown leads to beating on train

Question about Mike Brown leads to beating in St. Louis - CNN.com

(CNN)When one man sat down next to a second man in a St. Louis light rail car and asked him his opinion on the shooting of Michael Brown, it was not the beginning of a discussion.

It was the start of an assault, police said.

The second man, who was white, didn't want to answer the question. Then the first man, who was black, boxed him in the face. Two more African-American men joined in the beating, according to a police report about Monday's incident.

Saw this on CNN today...guy that got punched seemed as mad that no one came to help him as he was that he got punched.

And that's why you have concealed carry laws.

Throw them in jail. People like this don't deserve to walk the streets.

Even though I hate the whole "Hate Crime" thing, I'll ask...should this be considered a "Hate Crime'?

Racially motivated...yes.

Don't know about hate though.

By definition wouldn't any racially motivated crime also be considered a hate crime?

I think that's tough to answer. I think that many of the crimes committed in response to the Ferguson and Trayvon Martin situations were done by people who don't necessarily hate white people. so while they were motivated by race I don't think I would call them "hate".

Just my opinion.

Can we have something called an "idiot crime"? And while we're at it, can I be the judge and jury. I'd be awfully busy but am plenty willing!!

Yes.

These guys won't get that label

Reverse this and we have riots in the streets

No kidding. The next time someone asks why I feel the need to carry, I will send them this link.

Same could be said for almost any crime that is labeled a "Hate Crime". Hate crime has never been defined by Hate but as a crime being carried out against someone because of a real or perceived difference between the perpetrator and the victim.

Ok.
