I know this isn't a thread I should really comment in, but 46 inch vertical really?

Yes really. If I can figure out how to upload photos I could give you evidence to support my statement. He has been given phenomenal skills. Over this past summer at The Summit combine at the Imani Life Center in Lexington he posted the best running time out of all the student-athletes in the entire camp. He finished a 3/4 court sprint time in just a few hundreths over 3 seconds. Unbelievable. 2.96 seconds is the record time held by NBA great Nate Robinson of the Boston Celtics according to speedendurance.com.

Not doubting his athleticism, but I've seen videos and I'm doubting he has elite level athleticism. Kwe parker, who is one of the best athletes in the country has a 45in vertical and from what I've seen, kwe is on a totally different level.

Kwe Parker Is The BEST Dunker In High School! 6'2 Guard With BOUNCE!:

Here's a quote from an article I was just reading:

Earlier this year, D.J. Stephens out of Memphis broke the record for the highest vertical ever recorded at the NBA Draft Combine — a measly 46 inches

I have seen Stephens in person and he was trying to sit a cup on top of the backboard at Southern Miss before the game.

His athleticism is unquestionable and is something that was given to him and cannot be taught. He is a good kid from Western Ky. The commonwealth as a whole should support this kid in his fulfillment of his dreams. I am going to reiterate the fact that he is a hometown kid.

Who did he play his live certified events with and where? If he received plenty of exposure with Henderson's high school team and also his travel ball team then he should get a good look from both D1 and D2 schools. I wish him luck, it always reflects good for the state to place as many kids as we can in D1 schools. It drives more awareness and in turn the state is recruited harder.

I have never seen him play so based on what I heard with his elite athleticism, character, and assuming he has good grades he should have a good chance at a D1 school providing he got the proper exposure needed for many kids who play in areas that traditionally do not produce many D1 college prospects.

I don't think anyone was questioning how good of a kid he is or even saying he couldn't play. I along with others were questioning your hyperbole in regards to his vert. A lot of people around the state are aware of what kind of player he is and I wish him the best in all future endeavors.

What's that got to do with his talents?

It just reiterates the fact that the 2nd region is underrated. David Simmons (Undecided). Anthony Hickey. (LSU, OK St.), Jon Hood. (UK), Scotty Hopson. (Tennessee), Ford Stuen (Ok. State), Josh Terry (Austin Peay) Donovan Kates (Manhattan), and Tyshawn Edmonson (St. Johns, Austin Peay) are all products of the second region. And that's just in the past 5 years.

Kentucky Weslyan and Vincennes two really good d-1 want him. A few d-1 have shown interest like evansville. He had a visit their last week.

David was offered to play for the Commonwealths top team (Hoop Dreams) by Q but turned down exposure in order to be with his hometown buddies of the Western Ky Hoopstars to become a more complete team with Henderson. He sacrificed exposure for chemistry.

KW is d2 and Vincennes is JUCO.

how did this get to 2nd region being underrated?

Henderson and Hoptown were both ranked most of the year and Simmons and Matlock are ranked high on top players' list.

Well based on other Region 2 players you listed going D1, then perhaps the exposure has been there in order for him to get the D1 offer without playing with a significant travel ball circuit team. I honestly feel there is nothing wrong with going to a top D2 program over some lower D1 schools. Bellarmine for example has better crowds, goes to NCAA tournaments, even probably has equal talent, and a full ride gives you about a $50K tuition break/year. My advice would not be too focused on the pride of being a D1 player over a D2 school. I just think the offers that any player gets to get a free education is a blessing to be thankful for.
