March 9, 201511 yr Once we have removed all animals from the circus, the only thing left will be the clowns....and we all know what kind of deep seated psychological damage they have done to kids everywhere..... Went to the Ringling Brothers last year for the first time since I was probably 8 or 9. And let's just say the clowns have made the list of "Things That Were Better When I Was Younger". I was very disappointed in them.
March 9, 201511 yr You can't understand the difference between being in an open zoo habitat and being locked up in a train car traveling with your legs chained together? And what is this exploration of money you speak of? Is that what John Stewart was doing in his Half Baked cameo? Red team go! Red team Go!!! A concrete room with jail fencing is considered an open zoo habitat? My point is that animals are being used to create profit for an entity. Zoo vs Circus, whats the difference, animals being used for profit.

If you want to ban all profiteering from animals then let's stop Horse Racing, Rodeos, Dog Racing, Westminster Dog Show and any other event in which animals are used.

I didnt say I was against it, im just saying if your going after one entity, go after them all.

The breeding programs they have help keep rare species in existence (look at the panda's for example). And while it's still captivity, they are getting the very best care and treatment available and the habitats that they live in very much replicate what they would be living in in the wild. Their movement might be restricted (but not necessarily by that much) but they will not suffer from the threat or stress of predators (and they won't be killed in a grisly manner or eaten alive) or the irritation and pain of parasites, injuries and illnesses will be treated, they won’t suffer or die of drought or starvation and will get a varied and high-quality diet with all the supplements required. You can't even begin to compare the treatment and care that zoo animals get to what circus animals get. All that being said, there are plenty of bad zoo's out there.

So Zoo's are playing the role of God or Darwin (depending on the theory you believe)?
March 9, 201511 yr How about we eliminate the circus altogether? Never been a fan. Stop buying tickets. I went last Thursday w/ my daughter. Great night b/c it was just the 2 of us hanging out, but I felt so guilty during the animal acts. I'm not a fan of animals at all either.
March 9, 201511 yr How about we eliminate the circus altogether? Never been a fan. Let's don't be hasty...for those of us that grew up on a farm, the circus is just an extension of the smells we all are familiar with. If I had to guess, it's not that you are not an animal lover, you just can't stand the smell of organics !

March 9, 201511 yr I am thinking that is not exactly what you meant to say? I took that to mean he is not a fan of animals at all yet still felt guilty during the treatment of animals during their act(s).
March 9, 201511 yr I took that to mean he is not a fan of animals at all yet still felt guilty during the treatment of animals during their act(s). I was thinking maybe he didn't finish his thought and was not a fan of animals in a circus. You are probably right. We need a voting button!!
March 9, 201511 yr I am thinking that is not exactly what you meant to say? No, it is. I don't really care one way or the other about animals. I don't like petting them, fawning over them, and I definitely don't call myself my Dog's "Dad." I do, however, care about the mistreatment of living things. I felt really uneasy watching the Big Cats act. If that made ME feel bad, it can't be an ok thing.
