theguru Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 My 6 did something similar to this about a month ago. It locked up and got amazingly hot, so much so, I put it in the fridge until the battery went dead. Then I was able to reboot the phone and no problems since. It was right at the point of being too hot to handle.
GrizzlyAdams Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Anyone else had a similar issue with their phone? I see it all the time. Batteries over heat from phones and I've had numerous people have problems with phones.
TAC Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I have a mophie attached. It heats up when I use it to charge the phone.
theguru Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I see it all the time. Batteries over heat from phones and I've had numerous people have problems with phones. I have a 6, is what I described an issue that I need to address and/or how would you advise someone in my position? @GrizzlyAdams
GrizzlyAdams Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I have a 6, is what I described an issue that I need to address and/or how would you advise someone in my position? @GrizzlyAdams As far as iPhones, make an appointment and get into the Apple Store in Kenwood. They would replace it same day with a new model.

GrizzlyAdams Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 All Apple will have is my word, will that be good enough or are they going to jerk me around? Personally, I'd call in to them. Give that actual store location a call, let them know hey my phone almost caught on fire, don't tell them you put it in the fridge :lol2:. Ask them if they can replace it. I would almost tell them it's happened multiple times and see if that gets you any where.
theguru Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I appreciate the advice. And if there is a next time, what should I do with it? I couldn't shut it down and it was hot as hell.
GrizzlyAdams Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I appreciate the advice. And if there is a next time, what should I do with it? I couldn't shut it down and it was hot as hell. Turn it off, about the only thing you can do since you don't have the power to remove the battery.
theguru Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Turn it off, about the only thing you can do since you don't have the power to remove the battery. Couldn't turn it off, the screen locked up. I thought the fridge was a good idea, it cooled it down some, it was still really warm, but it held the phone in check until the battery died.
LRCW Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I appreciate the advice. And if there is a next time, what should I do with it? I couldn't shut it down and it was hot as hell. What were you doing with it when it started getting hot? Talking, texting, using a certain app? Do you have a 6 or 6 plus?
