I did answer the tools question. All those teams have the tools I mentioned in the last post. And IMO, those are the reason all those teams can play with Holmes without getting blown out. Now having the tools and knowing the weaknesses doesn't always equal a W for the opposing team. As you pointed out, even with all that on your side, 27 out of 28 times Holmes' strengths were able to overcome any weaknesses. That's why they are good. Not many have been able to expose it at all and if they did, were not able to sustain it long enough to get the win. Thats why I complimented Holmes. I really felt that once teams started hanging with them, figuring some things out and actually getting them down in games, they may crack. But they haven't and I'm impressed with them for that. Things were coming easy in the beginning. Sometimes that's not always good and when you get challenged, things can fall apart very quickly. They didn't let that happen and I'm impressed.

There is no special formula for beating Holmes, the reason all the close games were close is because Holmes was in foul trouble and had to relinquish the press, their bread and butter. I have not seen any team handle the press, I have seen games being called close causing Perkins to have to abandon the press. That is what allows teams to stay close no big secret check the record. If Holmes can avoid foul trouble they will be very hard to beat. Holmes is hurt more by foul trouble due to their style of play!

Okay. That's your opinion and I have mine. And no one has handled the press? Not sure that's a true statement...but that's your opinion. And why are they always in foul trouble?? Oh I remember...the refs! But seriously, why are they always in foul trouble? Answer that and you'll solve one of the mysteries to another weakness. But I'm not going to dare say anything about another weakness!

OK ya'll, all this Holmes talk aside IMHO we have the 1st upset and resulting elimination of the tournament with Augusta pulling out the OT win over Bracken County. Congrats to both teams on great seasons and to the Lady Panthers moving forward in the tournament.

Wow! Definitely didn't see that coming!

I seen many teams over the years, for what ever reason, decline to play competition outside of their comfort zone. I look at Holmes schedule, I see weakness written all over it. Notre Dame for an example, has played many games out of the N Ky area. Simon Kenton and Ryle are 2 other teams that I seen the past 4 years venture down state and play. Make all the excuses you want, but if I'm a coach who I think has a top team, Im on the phone in June trying to get into some worthy tournaments.

 

 

Holmes team has traveled out of town and even state?? Won the Johnson Central tourney, Won a tourney in Ft. Meyers Florida , traveled to GRC, and Shelby County and Mason County??? Played 3 teams in just those few samples that were BGP top 20' s and a good Fleming County team??

Tonight's game with Walton & Williamstown could also be an upset. Saw Williamstown last regular season game and Montgomery and Kennedy lighting it up. Sydney Taylor doing work underneath. They will have to deal with Ison inside and Mills from outside. Should be a good one tonight.

dg21, you have some good points. When I made my post, I made it after looking at Holmes schedule and their opponents wins and losses. I think some get confused when they see a glossy shiny record and assume that is a good team. I'm not one who does that, as I look at quality wins or close losses and where the win or loss came(home/away). Of the teams you mentioned, only Shelby Co has one quality win, being Male. Any poll you look at, there is a large gap between 1-25, Im talking 25+ points, so I don't put much stock in being a Top 25 team. Good luck in your post season endeavors!
