No Marksberry in this one. How did that affect the outcome??

This Dixie team has really come on in the past few weeks and will be a very tough out come regional time.

I mentioned in our debate about Top 10 than Schreck and Stanley are very similar.

I will admit I've seen Stanley a lot more than Schreck. I'm guessing that if I watched Schreck more he'd remind me of former CCH Colonel Michael Grimes - one of those kids that you appreciate more and more with time.

I've seen both of these young men quite a bit. They can both play. I would take both of them on my team any day ;)

They both look to play the entire game of basketball, not just certain aspects. There are too many 1 & 2 dimensional players. These 2 guys are "4D," multi-tooled players.

Can we finally say that Schreck is the best senior guard in nky besides Beetle? Im taking him over Pangallo, Rabe, & Theobold. He is more versatile than all of them, plus he's 6'3.

You could potentially be on to something. I like Pangallo's quickness and ability to shoot the ball, but I like everything that Schreck does. He certainly isn't flawless, and makes mistake as any player does, but his head always seems to be in the right place.

If you're talking the entire NKY (speaking of: Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, Gallatin, Bracken, Pendleton counties), you can't discount Dre Jackson, CVH, Austin Crawford, or Brenden Stanley. Obviously all of them are really good.

I certainly don't discount Rabe and Theobald, as they are both good players, but I'd personally take Schreck (I assume I'm biased because I've been saying this for a long time, but very few actually listen on a blog, most probably just want to be heard  ;))

Seriously...........NO!

Seriously...........NO!

Seriously.......it is absolutely worth debating and Shreck is just as good. If he played for CCH, Highlands or NCC, all of the posters on here would be singing the praises and have 10 threads on here about his toughness and what a great kid he is. Give credit where it is due. The kid can play.

It would have to have some affect on the game. Mayberry is very strong and a very confident player. He makes a difference. That being said Dixie is a very tough team to beat right now no matter who is playing.

Hard to fully evaluate "guards" without looking at assists. Anyone able to provide assists/turnover ratios? Also, in the games I've seen, Schreck plays more of a small forward than a guard.

Schreck:

PPG: 11.7

RPG: 5.2

FG: 56.5% (96-170)

3FG: 46.7% (7-15) - not much of a perimeter game

FT: 71.8% (102-142)

Pangallo:

PPG: 11.5

RPG: 1.5

FG: 47.4% (109-230)

3FG: 34.9% (37-106)

FT: 79.4% (50-63)

Theobold:

PPG: 12.4

RPG: 3.7

FG: 48.7% (112-230)

3FG: 20.0% (4-20) - not much of a perimeter game

FT: 78.7% (133-169)

Rabe:

PPG: 11.4

RPG: 1.5

FG: 41.4% (94-227)

3FG: 33.6% (39-116)

FT: 64.6% (51-79)

By the numbers, I think Schreck is better than all 3 of these guys, IMO. Schreck can play a 3 (small forward), but for Dixie, it's more of a 3 guard line-up, I think. He plays off the ball, which appears to be the same on either side of the wing at Dixie.

If he was playing the point, I think he would have better numbers, certainly in the assist department, and points. Rebounds could fall because he may not always be able to crash the boards from the weakside, but I would bet he would still average 4 a game because that's just who he is.

Something Schreck can do better than any other guard in the 9th (IMO) is post up. He has nice footwork for a guard, strong hands, good length, excellent body control, and an ability to finish.

All of this said, I don't like to just look at numbers. Pangallo can play, and he is a heck of a player. He can fill it up, finish, or make a great pass, or get a steal or 2!

Both are pretty darn good.
