Did anyone catch this on NBA TV the other night? Kobe was interviewed by Ahmad Rashad. It was one hour. Truthfully it could have been two hours and it probably still wouldn't have covered everything. Very entertaining and insightful for any Kobe fan and non Kobe fans as well.

Mine was Larry Bird (great player, fun to watch and played on my already favorite hoops team - easy call). He also along with Magic made the NBA fun again for me. Then I fell in love with Lance Armstrong and Tiger Woods. Actually, Tiger was easily my all time favorite. But both Tiger and Lance have had spectacular falls from grace. Guess I am back to Larry...

If you haven't noticed I go against the grain. I hate people everyone likes and I love people everyone hates.

 

I hate MJ. I love Kobe.

 

I hate Jerry Rice. I love Randy Moss

 

I hate the Spurs and Celtics. I love the Lakers.

 

I hate UNC. I love Duke.

 

Kobe is my favorite because his haters hate him for stupid reasons. I love his competitive drive. I love his old school mind in a new school world. I love his desire to win at all costs and I love his work ethic and determination to win. I think he is the most misunderstood athlete I have ever seen in my lifetime and I think it is sad how he is perceived by people because he isn't all buddy-buddy with everybody. He ain't here to make friends. He's here to win. He doesn't care if people like him. If you don't work as hard as he does to win then he doesn't like you either. He backs down from no one or anything and I love that. He's lived his whole life with a get-on-my-level attitude and backed it up his whole career. I don't think we'll ever see another player with that kind of attitude ever again. The game is too soft for that kind of attitude now.

I love both Kobe and Duncan. Strange because when they were young I didn't like either. Same with Dirk. Now they are my 3 favorite players, maybe its because they won't be around much longer.

Kobe's work ethic is beyond his peers and most in any other profession.

Found this very odd, as he won titles after Shaq, and as near as I remember he was the reason Shaq left LA after the first titles. What am I missing, or was the "bottom line" stuff deceiving?

He had a chance to leave LA before Shaq left and he chose to stay so he could win titles with Shaq. He knew what he had in Shaq. He was pretty honest in the interview. He said they weren't friends when they were in LA. He admitted his role in Shaq leaving. He even said he understands why it appeared Shaq wasn't working hard to attain success like he was working. He knows now how Shaq's body would feel and when he was younger he didn't take that into consideration.
