Could freshmen become ineligible to play again?

By the same token, I waver on whether even one year of college should be required.

It shouldn't be, but that's the NBA's concern and not the NCAA's. The two do all sorts of things without regard to the other and the health of the sport as a whole.

Personally, I'd like to see more professional development of young players and the abandonment of good players bothering to go to college at all, but this is the game we're stuck with.

I appreciate that it is, but, frankly, it shouldn't be!

One and done kids belong in a professional development league, period. Scholarships are for those who are serious about pursuing higher education, clearly, these kids are not. Division 1 athletics in the Big 5 especially, is simple sports entertainment, nothing more. There are plenty of leagues in Europe that will take you at 18. Many of these leagues offer 7 figure contracts to play. That is where those on a professional track need to go.

What about the kids who go pro after two years, or what about the kids who go pro after three years. I guess they didn't deserve to have a scholarship either then, since they were not serious about pursuing higher education to completion. I mean I never heard anyone complain to much about those kids who left after years two or three. So why complain about it now? Kids use to leave after years two or three because they finally became good enough to go pro and make millions. Hardly anyone complained much about that, but since some kids are good enough to go pro after one year of college you want to complain about that? People don't go to college just to get an education usually, they go to college to prepare themselves for a career. If that career comes calling early in college and offers you a huge pay day, you take it plain and simple. Colleges aren't going anywhere, you can always go back to college. However you don't always have a career ready for you. There are plenty who go to college and graduate with a great degree and can't even find a good job in America today. So what good did that degree do them currently if they can't find a job?

Going to college helps you prepare for a career, and if you can find one early on then you take it because you can always go back to college. Just like in basketball college basketball helps prepare some while getting an education. If you are good enough after one year to go make millions you do it. Or in the Harrison's case they realized they were not good enough, to they came back and getting another year of preparing to get better to try to have a career. People go to college to prepare for whatever career they want, not just to get an education just to have one.

Let's go the baseball route. Either hit the draft out of high school OR go to school for 3 years before you can become draft eligible again.

Why should only baseball or basketball players be required to spend 3 years at a college before being able to make a living playing their sport? Others who go to college do not have to "commit" to three years if they go. Why should athletes?

NFL requires players must be 3 years removed from their high school graduating class.

Correct. While I understand it more in the NFL as it is such a physical game, I still don't like it.

I'm not saying that after 3 years bolt, I'm simply saying at least 3 years. Staying all 4 would be great, however, a lot of those athletes can't afford to pass up the money.

I think basketball players should be able to go out of high school myself.

I also think, not letting freshmen play is stupid.
