February 12, 201511 yr I haven't had a frozen custard in a few years — possibly 10. I want to say the last one I went to was in Letcher Co., possibly Isom (all roads lead to Isom), but I'm not sure. Where are there some good ones around the state for when I make my summer day trips hunting photos?

February 12, 201511 yr There's a place I pass by sometimes near Pound, VA (between Jenkins, KY and Wise, VA) named Robo's Dairy. It is a roadside dairy bar, and it is always packed, no matter the season. I have never stopped, but I always say "someday".

We stopped there on the way over the mountain to get beer when I was visiting a buddy in Whitesburg. I approve of its wares.

February 12, 201511 yr I don't think I know of any custard places around here. Rita's in Hilton Head is the spot if you ever happen to go there.

I just have a hard time accepting that recreating something thousands of times, in hundreds of different locations, will result in what the original recipe intended. Kinda like how the Big Mac is five feet tall on the TV commercials. And I have nothing against Culver's in general. The one time I ate there the burger was pretty good.
