I don't believe he recruited Pelle at SG when NKU was still D2. He went to West Liberty and was a key player on their NCAA tournament teams. I'm not saying that he has an issue with NK players, but not recruiting Pelle was a head scratcher.

Recruiting only Northern Kentucky kids certainly will not get it done at the D1 level, but when you have kids in your area that can play, you need to snatch them up. I get the thought that Bolden was more highly regarded, but I sure would have been putting on the full court press early in his career. Jake Schulte is playing in the same conference as NKU, did they offer him? IMO he had more upside than McDonald does, but that is me. I believe that Weyer could certainly play at that level, yet they offer VonHandorf as a frosh and nothing for Weyer? I would also have been all over Hatton as well since it was pretty obvious that he was going to be a D1 player.

Again, NKU is not supposed to be "nice" to local kids. They have to compete and they go get the players they need.

Who were the starters on that team Q?

He, Matt Wilson and Carson Williams are the only front line players on the current Travelers roster. He should definitely have plenty of opportunities to play a "stretch 4" position with that group.

 

Respectfully I might add that many AAU programs will not post a "roster" until closer to the season starts. Some kids are known to be with a team, but others not. Lot's of jockeying for final roster spots taking place now and in the next month with elite travel teams. It is always likely that programs have some commits that simply do not get known to "outsiders" no matter how hard people try to find that information. I am not speaking specifically of the Travelers roster, just in general that unless you are associated with a program it is likely that making statements about another team's roster is not going to be complete or entirely accurate.

 

I am not disagreeing with your comment, just pointing it out that it is an assumption based on speculation.

Add Coastal Carolina and Boston University to the list. I think his list will keep growing over the summer with AAU ball. Ben is great kid on and off the court. He is great in the classroom as well. Good luck Ben!

 

Coastal Carolina is a nice school that has had some recent history of making the NCAA March Madness. Boston University is a great place to get an education and what a city to spend your college age within. I saw Ben at the All "A" Classic and really believe he could play at either of these schools. I like his ability to play inside and outside. In the right system at the D1 level he will thrive. I look forward to seeing him develop over the summer and compete against the best basketball prospects in the country.
