How come St.X and Trinity don't have a spring games?

Even with the friendly jabs this was a good discussion... thanks to all for the feedback. .... I wonder how many people would show up for a spring X vs. T game..... even with bunches of kids out / out of position? I know you can't do such a thing but do you think you'd get a few thousand? I do.

I am proud to say I have never seen a lacrosse game. As far as St.X it is the lack of locker room space more than anything else, but with the opening of the new fieldhouse spring football would be possible. But like Ox referred to it would most likely be a bunch of linemen.

I can't believe you'd not like lacrosse! It's almost as good as football!

I am afraid I would like and besides I need to chill in the spring!I always go the X-T baseball game however.

But winning four out of five titles without it proves it isn't really needed.

The spring of '01, we had a spring game.

I think it would help X and T to play a spring game. I'm a big believer that every second you spend on the field in live scrimmage teaches you something.

However, I can see where playing a spring game is less beneficial to those teams than it is for most others. One thing that X and T have a big advantage on over most other schools is that the majority to nearly all of thier players have prior football experiance and have seen the feild. Most other high schools have a larger percentage of players who began football at the high school level. The gain for X and T is not as big as it is for others.

I think I remember that game. It was played out at the practice field of UofL. I was talking to Kevin Wright on the sidelines. He had just completed his first season at Warren Central and he told us that he wouldn't want to start playing the Rocks for quite some as they weren't on Trinity's level yet. LOL, turns out that Coach Wright was a pretty good sand-bagger. When I saw WC a year later they were way beyond Trinity's level on their way to winning three out of the next four Indiana state titles.

I'm not sure X even goes out in full pads. Remember, X and T usually pick up an additional 4 or 5 weeks extra practice each fall. Why risk injury or burnout if not necessary?

One of my sons who is a RB was encouraged to join the track team by his football coaches. The track team has already taken .2 seconds off his 40 time which was already good. These other sports (track, wrestling) cut the risk of burnout while building other skills (speed, functional strength) that are very necessary on the football field.
