Surprised too see Apollo still unable to put that talent together to upend Owensboro. Sounds like Holman had a good game..will be an interesting 3rd region tourney no doubt.

Great game to watch! Holman is a major defensive presence. Really interested to see how the Red Devils end the regular seasons last 4 games.

I have to mention that the refs were pitiful both ways tonight!

I will second the refs being down right terrible on both sides. The first half everything went for Apollo but it evened out some in the second half. Just bad all around.

 

While Apollo came up short, i thought they played with good energy and challenged OHS well. They left a lot of chances out on the court. OHS is a real tough team to defend. With Miller and Holman inside and the shooters they have outside you almost have to pick your poison. Eli Wright is really hitting his stride at the right time. He played his best defensive game of the season tonight IMO. I was very impressed with Zach Hopewell for Apollo. I think he could be an X factor for them down the stretch. Unfortunately, Trace didnt have the type of game many people expected. He was great on the boards but really struggled offensively. After he missed his first shot he appeared to get tight and really force some bad shots.

 

I hope we get to see this matchup a few more times. I know Apollo has came up short in both meetings but i still believe them to be the biggest threat to OHS in the 3rd. The first round of the 9th district is going to be intense.

After watching this game, Eli played very well as did Aric. Couple of fouls on Miller were questionable as were a couple on Coomes. Apollo has a 6'4" wing man, they do not need a 6'8" wing. Trace has got to learn to play inside, which it appears is not going to happen. Hard for me to believe that Apollo has struggled as much as they have this year. That being said, Apollo has the same problem that OHS has, the need for a true point guard who can run the office and possibly score 6-8 points a game.

 

While Apollo has the size with Trace to match up, I think Daviess County poses the biggest threat to OHS. However, it appears OHS region to lose.

Apollo has to get by Daviess in the 1st round of the district to play Oboro again. Daviess has been somewhat surprising this year.

Its all about matchups to me. I dont think DC can beat OHS but i think Apollo could. Thats not me saying Apollo is better than DC because im not sure they dont go into that 1st round game as an under dog. I just think Apollo has better players that can matchup with OHS better. Better players dont make a better team, but i think it gives Apollo a chance to upset OHS.
