Chris Kyle's accused killer...Trial to start next week...NewTwist

According to documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, Routh was never in combat, so it’s unlikely he was suffering from PTSD.

On their Facebook page, The Warfighter Foundation, wrote that “he NEVER SAW COMBAT or any aspect of traumatic events associated with a combat deployment (i.e. incoming mortar or rocket fire). He never left the base, EVER.”

While Routh never served in battle, he did work as a prison guard overseeing Muslim terrorists at Bilad Airbase. Walid Shoebat posits that Routh could have interacted with the inmates and perhaps converted to Islam.

While there is no proof of any conversion, Shoebat says “During a phone call with his father, Routh expressed sympathy for the detainees and discontent over how the US was conducting the war as well as his reluctance to engage in combat” and “While working as a guard at Balad Air Base, Routh laments his [Muslim] prisoners’ poor living conditions.”

I guess this may come out during his trial.

I am not defending anyone or making any excuses but if anyone thinks military prison guards can't suffer from PTSD I strongly recommend they watch Boys of Abu Ghraib. It is on Netflix. You will need to be uninterrupted and pay close attention.

Because he felt sympathy for people who were kept in horrific living conditions that makes him a Muslim convert? Seems like a huge leap to me.

Also, how in the world can this guy get a fair trial at this point?

Easier than you think. I was discussing the movie and Kyle last weekend with a bunch of people at church and I think 2 out of maybe 10 had ever heard of either.

It amazes me all of the time how many people are clueless on current events locally or nationally. The people on BGP are the exception not the rule when it comes to this. Many workaholics are clueless on what goes on around them every day.

Pick 10 random people out in Texas and ask. You think you get the same results?

I have cousin that owns a bar in West Texas, I'll bet anything that she wouldn't have a clue.

Is your cousins bar under a rock?

No, but is in Alpine which is pretty far out there :lol2: It's just that the majority of people aren't as involved in current events as the average BGP Member.

We had our Sheriff assassinated in front of a crowd of 100 or so people several years ago. They pretty easily were able to seat a jury in the same county. I talked to a buddy that was on the jury a while after the trial and asked how did you get on the jury. He said, "I don't read the paper or watch the news...all I knew about the case was that I remembered back several months someone said the sheriff had been killed."

This past year every county wide election in our county went to a new person...I talk to people all of the time that don't know who the new Judge Exec is or the new Sheriff. These were by far two of the most contested elections in our county and yet many people just don't have a clue.

I've never heard of Kyle West. But the fact that Allen West has doesn't mean jack. I'm not sure what to extrapolate from his article. Poorly written, with lots of missing words where we are expected to draw contextual conclusions.

If she's ever in that bar she does.
