There are a lot of different factors: how often do you use, how much did you use, and what type of test did you take?

 

Generally speaking, your urine will test positive for cocaine use for about three days. With that said, if you're a frequent user, urine may show traces of cocaine for up to 10-14 days.

If it's a blood test, typically the amount of time to detect the presence of cocaine decreases (approx. 12 hours, I'd guess).

 

If it's a hair test, it'll show positive for whatever substance for much longer -- like a month or so.

I don't think it's a HIPPA thing, but what if he was randomly chosen for a sample at the same time he enters? Perhaps it's his way of getting ahead of a suspendable offense.

 

That's probably more likely the motivation. He's watching Josh Gordon and knows that soon he will be tested because of all the twitter partying pics this season and he was hanging out with Gordon just before Gordon was tested again. He's getting out front of this so he doesn't get caught first. The Browns are also weary with their party twins and aren't going to give Manziel much of a leash, especially given the way he played this season. They already banished him from the sideline for the last game cause he missed an early morning treatment on his hamstring due to partying the night before. Had to send security to his house to make sure he was okay and they found a bleary-eyed idiot. Guess who also missed a team walk-through the next day. So Johnny has probably received some advice from his agent, parents, and other advisors that if he wants any chance for a career in the NFL, he better get out in front of this thing and put the childish things behind.

Make him undergo reconstructive surgery and turn him in to an NFL caliber QB? Short of that, I think what you've seen is what you get. He's not an NFL QB IMO.

The scary part will be once he completes the program there will be a lot of support for giving him another shot which probably means another lost year for the Browns.

It would make it worse for me if they don't re-sign Hoyer. As far as I'm concerned, he's their best QB right now and I want him to come back. I think they need to look for a better one via free-agency, trade, and the draft, but why get rid of the only guy on your team that won?

The Browns have to pay Hoyer now, if he wants to stay. However, he may have had enough. You have to believe that Buffalo with where they draft and their need would look much better to him. Good young receivers, decent running game and top 5 defense that will stay that way with Rex. Plus the weather is pretty much a wash.

 

Cleveland could franchise him, but, wow, that would be near 20M. Can't see the Browns doing that, but it is the Browns who are quickly reaching the futility level of the Bengals from '92-'02. That folks is painful! Believe me, I know.

Browns definitely won't franchise him. They will make an offer. It will probably be low. He'll look elsewhere and instruct his agent that he will only consider a place that he could start. Then it will be who pays him more, the Browns or the other team. I think he will go elsewhere cause the Browns have given every indication that they do not think he is worth much money.

More dependent on the type of test than anything else. Urinalysis, probably much shorter than marijuana, though when cocaine is ingested in conjunction with alcohol, a new chemical forms called acetylcholine, which has a longer elimination time. Either way, standard urine test, doubtful that it's longer than maybe a week, especially if only used on occasion. Hair sample though and it would probably show up much, much longer, and it's not even close.
