Gaslight Anthem came to my mind too, but I had the same thought about the "river" reference. Can't think of anything that it would allude to.
January 16, 201511 yr It may be because I've listened to him a lot lately, but reading the most recent clue had me thinking of "The River of Dreams" by Billy Joel. As far as the festivals announced so far, I'm REALLY liking Shaky Knees. Avett Brothers, Wilco, Pixies, Ryan Adams, Neutral Milk Hotel, Frank Turner... And that's just what I remember off the top of my head. A trip to Atlanta may be in order.

Highlights include T.I., Chicago, Trombone Shorty, Hozier, Widespread Panic, The O'Jays, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ryan Adams, Steven Winwood, Wilco, Shovels & Rope, and Blind Boys Of Alabama. This looks like a good one to me for the sheer fact that Tony Bennett will be there!

January 20, 201511 yr I opted to just buy Neutral Milk Hotel tickets for the Louisville show and save the money as opposed to heading to Atlanta. Most of the other bands I'd want to see at that festival, I've already seen at least once.
January 21, 201511 yr Author At first glance, it appeared that this might by a hint the Fall Out Boy will be there ("arms race"). Thankfully, they already have shows booked on July 17th, 18th and 19th, so that means no Forecastle for them. Most people seem to be taking the "arms race" line to be a euphemism for the Cold War, and the bit about the beach being clearly visible and long to be a reference to Long Beach, CA...where the Cold War Kids are from. Seems like a logical answer to this one, if you ask me. There have also been a couple folks hypothesizing that the Long Beach reference could be in regard to Snoop Dogg's song "Long Beach 2 Brick City"...but I think that's a little less likely, in light of the "arms race" reference in the hint.
