This reminds me a lot of the one that circulated last year about this time about "Why country sucked in 2013." I'll never understand the lowest common denominator. I recall that video regarding country music in 2013 & figured this was something similar. :thumb:

Sometimes yes, but not necessarily. I just Google searched Britney Spears' latest album, and you need only look on the Wikipedia track listing to see how many people it took to write a single one of her songs. I'd argue life's too short to care that much about something as pointless as music. If it has a good beat/tune, or I like the lyrics, I'll listen. Regardless of genre.

The Wallflowers had a free concert several years ago and therefore there were several people there who "One Headlight" was the only song they knew. One person commented that outside of "One Headlight", it all about sounded the same. When I thought back, the beat of all the other songs did seem pretty similar so I couldn't argue too much I guess.

If music is pointless, then why does it accompany so many important things in life? There's music in church, national anthems, state songs, school fight songs...music accompanies theaters, film and television...they play music at inaugurations, funerals, weddings... Seems like a LOT of people have MAJOR uses for something you'd call "pointless"

Country (per rap fans): It all revolves around wives leaving, dogs dying, pick up trucks, etc. Rap (per country fans): It all revolves around partying at the club, large rear ends, pimping or scoring with multiple women, how rich they are, etc. but all seems to involve how self obsessed the artist (use the term loosely according to country fans) is with himself - Kanye being the epitome of this. I tend to think both rap and country both could add some diveristy to the topics of their music in my opinion. That is one thing I do recognize with Eminem, much of his music is telling a story about something unique to much of the rest of rap music.
