QB Beau Hoge, Highlands: The senior completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,459 yards and 35 touchdowns with seven interceptions while leading the Bluebirds to their 23rd state championship. He also rushed for 865 yards and 26 more scores. "The Run," where he eluded several Covington Catholic tacklers on his way to an 82-yard touchdown in the regional finals, a play that made No. 1 on ESPN Sporscenter's daily Top 10, will go down as one of the great plays in Northern Kentucky history.

 

QB Kyle Fieger, Beechwood: The junior was named to the NKFCA Class A All-District Team. He threw for 1,650 yards and 21 touchdowns with two interceptions while leading the Tigers to the Class A state semifinals.

 

RB Torrey Cordell-Armstrong, Cooper: The junior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense. He rushed for 1,752 yards and 16 touchdowns while helping lead the Jaguars to the 5A state semifinals.

 

RB Collin England, Ryle: The junior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense. He rushed for 1,144 yards and nine touchdowns, and was the driving force behind a resurgent Raiders' offense.

 

RB Dillon Powell, Simon Kenton: The junior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense. He rushed for 1,519 yards and 16 touchdowns, while helping lead the Pioneers to the 6A regional finals.

 

WR Logan Winkler, Simon Kenton: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense. He caught 65 passes for 848 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was also one of the most dangerous kick returners in the area, amassing 1,493 all-purpose yards and a kick return touchdown for the Pioneers.

 

WR Alex Veneman, Highlands: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense. His 95 receptions shattered the previous Northern Kentucky record of 77 set by Mike Setters of Ryle in 1999, and his 1,595 receiving yards eclipsed the previous local record of 1,386 set by former Bluebird Brett Hamblen back in 2000.

 

WR Brett Slusher, Beechwood: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense as a linebacker where he was also dominant. However, as a receiver he was one of the most physically imposing one-on-one matchups in the area, even in somewhat limited targets.

 

WR Logan McDowell, Covington Catholic: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense. He finished the year with 628 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, and was also a dangerous weapon as a kick returner.

 

TE Andrew Hedger, Dixie Heights: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense. He was a key cog as a blocker in the Colonels' running game, and also added 175 receiving yards and a touchdown on 12 receptions. He's committed to play at Austin Peay.

 

OL Christian Olmstead, Simon Kenton: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense, and helped lead a Simon Kenton offense that ranked second in Northern Kentucky in offensive yardage during the regular season.

 

OL Sam Murrer, Covington Catholic: The senior offensive lineman was named to the NKFCA first-team offense, and helped lead a Covington Catholic offense that ranked fifth in Northern Kentucky in offensive yardage. He's committed to play at Miami (OH).

 

OL Drew Brennen, Dixie Heights: The senior offensive lineman was named to the NKFCA first-team offense, and helped lead a Dixie offense that ranked third in Northern Kentucky in offensive yardage.

 

OL Branden Johnson, Dixie Heights: The senior offensive lineman was named to the NKFCA first-team defense, but he was also one of the most dominating run blocking linemen in Northern Kentucky all season long. He's committed to play at Eastern Michigan.

 

OL Bo Hebel, Highlands: The senior offensive lineman was named to the NKFCA first-team offense, and was the leader on a re-tooled Bluebirds offensive line that powered the most prolific offense in Northern Kentucky.

 

OL Logan Ross, Ryle: The senior offensive lineman was named to the NKFCA first-team offense, and was an important piece for the Raiders' potent rushing attack.

 

K Sergio Gutierrez, Lloyd: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense. He made 44-of-46 extra points and 5-of-5 field goals, including a school record 49-yarder.

 

First-team defense

 

DL Breandon Johnson, Newport: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He finished with 67 tackles.

 

DL Maleek Lawrence, Newport Central Catholic: The junior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He was third on the team with 93 tackles.

 

DL Marcus Watson, Cooper: The junior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He led the Jaguars with 101 tackles and three fumble recoveries.

 

DL Tucker Mueller, Simon Kenton: The junior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He finished second on the team with 88 tackles.

 

DL Colson Machlitt, Dixie Heights: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He finished the season with 67 tackles.

 

LB Nick Sauerbeck, Campbell County: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He had an interception and a fumble recovery on defense.

 

LB Ryan Woolf, Ryle: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He led the Raiders with 152 tackles.

 

LB Barry Deaton, Simon Kenton: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He finished with 64 tackles for the Pioneers.

 

LB Ben Owens, Dixie Heights: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He finished second on the team with 89 tackles.

 

LB Chris Hicks, Simon Kenton: The senior led the Pioneers with 93 tackles and three fumble recoveries. He also performed well in pass coverage and had an interception.

 

DB Alex Wagner, Covington Catholic: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He finished second on the team with 86 tackles and two interceptions.

 

DB Isaiah Ebarb, Conner: The junior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. He was among the Northern Kentucky leaders with five interceptions, one that he returned for a touchdown. He also had 33 tackles and returned two kicks for touchdowns.

 

DB Joe Studer, Beechwood: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense. As one of the most versatile players in NKy, his play on both offense and defense helped lead the Tigers to the 1A KHSAA state semifinals.

 

DB Brandon Gray, Newport Central Catholic: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He led the Thoroughbreds with three fumble recoveries, and was among the leaders in tackles with 72 and interceptions with two, including one that he returned for a touchdown.

 

DB Trent Kincaid, Simon Kenton: The sophomore was named to the NKFCA second team. He tied for the lead in NKy with seven interceptions on the season.

 

DB Ethan Harrison, Dixie Heights: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He finished with 31 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

 

P Jared Dougherty, Highlands: The junior was named to the NKFCA second team as a punter, but he was also one of the strongest-legged kickers in Northern Kentucky.

 

Second-team offense

 

QB Adam Wagner, Covington Catholic: The senior completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,669 yards and 21 touchdowns with eight interceptions and rushed for 661 yards and eight more TDs, despite missing some time with injuries.

 

QB Paul Price, Newport: The senior was named to the NKFCA first team as an athlete. He led the Wildcats with 1,160 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He also passed for 1,449 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

 

RB Jake Smith, Newport Central Catholic: The junior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense. He led the Thoroughbreds with 1,477 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns. He added 361 receiving yards and three more scores through the air.

 

RB Mason Compton, Walton-Verona: The senior rushed for 1,485 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also broke the Walton-Verona career rushing record with 3,164 yards and set a new career touchdown mark with 47.

 

RB Luke Zajac, Dixie Heights: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team defense as a defensive back. He ran for 1,354 yards and 14 touchdowns while complementing Drew Moore in the Colonels' read-option offense.

 

WR Grant Arnwine, Ryle: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense. He hauled in 24 passes for 574 yards and seven touchdowns.

 

WR Nate Enslen, Newport Central Catholic: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense. He caught 28 passes for 503 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had an interception return, punt return and kickoff return for a touchdown this season.

 

WR Charles Gaines, Lloyd: The junior was named to the NKFCA Class 2A All-District Team. He caught 42 passes for 574 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 111 yards and two more scores on just 14 carries.

 

WR Zach Barrett, Bellevue: The senior was named to the NKFCA Class A All-District team. He caught 43 passes for 1,011 yards and 14 touchdowns.

 

TE Jonathon Stokes, Beechwood: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense.

 

OL Alex Kaufman, Campbell County: The senior was named to the NKFCA first-team offense.

 

OL Jake Etler, Beechwood: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team offense.

DL Quinton Marksberry, Simon Kenton: The senior finished with 74 tackles and a fumble recovery for the Pioneers.

 

LB Cameron Pitzer, Covington Catholic: The junior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He led the Colonels with 95 tackles, and also came up with an interception and a fumble recovery.

 

LB Brady Murray, Highlands: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He also had an interception for the state champs.

 

LB Patrick Schoepf, Highlands: The senior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He also led the Bluebirds with three fumble recoveries.

 

LB Kobe Tallon, Newport Central Catholic: The junior was named to the NKFCA second-team defense. He led the Thoroughbreds with 143 tackles

DB Brian Burton, Newport: The senior led the Wildcats with five interceptions to go with 31 tackles. He was also their second-leading receiver with 534 yards and nine touchdowns, plus a weapon on special teams with two return touchdowns.

 

DB William Latimore, Walton-Verona: The senior tied for the lead in Northern Kentucky with seven interceptions to go with 39 tackles and a fumble recovery for the Bearcats. He also rushed for 1,331 yards and 17 touchdowns on offense.

 

DB Luke Caple, Dixie Heights: The senior led the Colonels with 128 tackles with a fumble recovery and interception. He was also a weapon in the passing game on offense.

 

P Logan Brewer, Dayton: The senior did some of everything for the Greendevils and was named to the NKFCA Class A All-District team as a running back and a punter.

The one question I have...I haven't seen Donnie Mills DL from HHS on any list. That kinda surprises me. He's a pretty disruptive player and had a solid year. I'm not sure I've even seen him as an HM anywhere. Not saying he should be on a list or should take the place of anyone on here, just surprised not to see him show up somewhere. Thoughts?

I think the reason he was left out of QB position was because he was pretty one dimensional and there were better passing QB's. That is just my take on it. Don't get me wrong, I thought he was awesome as a running QB, but I think they look at more of a passing QB for these lists. I thought he did get player of the year though

I don't think that was the reason. Enquirer always lists POY separately.

I think Cameron Racke should have got at least 2nd team or honorable mention. He threw for 1897 yards 21 tds 6 ints and rushed 524 yards 8 tds.

Brett Slusher should of been on the 1st team for lb not wr imo...DJ Mills was one of the best defensive lineman I saw all year also.
