Dont know the circumstances, but thats hard to believe. If just family vacation they would be sitting awhile when they returned and be running alot.

 

Really??????????? Explain. Did Dixie not have a kid on their boys team go on vacation during the break? Kids missing for Highlands today did not cost them a victory I would bet.

I believe one kid was out due to a recruiting commitment in her scholarship sport. I can't lay blame for that.

 

The big picture is to have your kids ready to play for district and regional play. Kids are going to miss games whether it be by injury, illness or some other commitment. I look at it as an opportunity to develop kids at the end of the bench.

I can't wrap my head around this one! Missing players due to family vacation and then losing a game they should of won would leave a nasty taste in my mouth!!

 

Maybe, Maybe not? Got to give credit where credit is due though. I think Owensboro Catholic plays nasty good defense. They have length out front, they are fast, they tip passes, contest everything, cut off and narrow down passing lanes, anticipate well, trap well, and flat out hustle. Walton missed some easy ones also, but I think it's because they get in your head and they make you rush stuff....shots, passes, etc.

Change the word commitment to exposure and I think we are on the same page.

Maybe, maybe not. Lots of teams of varying levels compete in these events. In soccer, much like other sports nowadays you have to be willing to promote yourself and hope you can land somewhere that gives you a little assistance with your college tuition. There really are no free rides in soccer for the most part, much like other minor college sports, but whatever monies you can get are a big plus for sure.

And both the kids and coaches are okay with it. We are very lucky to have a coach that understands and is flexible about this stuff. No need to get uptight. The kids and the coaches get it. And the coach has done this in the past. It's December, the game essentially means nothing and and they will get them back and everything will be fine. Missing the kids had very little to nothing to do with this loss.

 

OC outplayed them, they didn't shoot or execute well and they gave up too many rebounds. That's it.

 

Is it fun to win every game, but really about preparing for the big tournament. They are just fine. Not sure they can or will play as bad as they did in the first half.

I agree! However, sports and recruiting has changed a lot since he coached high school. In those days, sports hardly ever overlapped and recruiters actually came to high school games to recruit. Unfortunately, nowadays, that doesn't happen. If you don't get out and get your own exposure, you don't get many looks unless you are elite. Coaches these days understand what they are up against and either have a no tolerance policy about it or are flexible and coach around it. I'm happy we have a flexible coach.
