December 23, 201411 yr We as fans rise and fall with our team. We mostly tend to present things from our perspective, we think this, we are upset about that, etc. Sometimes the actual team can get lost in the shuffle. I just want to say I am happy for the Bengals. I am happy they won in prime time, I am happy they beat Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. I am happy for Dre Kirkpatrick, Marvin Lewis, Andy Dalton, Jeremy Hill, the OL, Pacman, Reggie Nelson, Taylor Mays, Carlos Dunlap, Mohamed Sanu, Brandon Tate, Jermaine Gresham, Wallace Gilberry and the list goes on and on. Finally, the world was watching the Bengals and we manned up and proved ourselves time and time again last night when we could have just bit the dust again. In other words, the Cincinnati Bengals showed up last night (they showed up last week too). Will the Bengals show up against the Steelers? In the playoffs? Who knows, but last night the Cincinnati Bengals showed up and I am happy for each and every one of them. Who Dey!

Who knows, but last night the Cincinnati Bengals showed up and I am happy for each and every one of them. Who Dey! I know how frustrated everyone gets with the 1st round exits. However people just need to learn to enjoy the ride. Its going to be up and down, its like that for every team. Just a few weeks ago people on here were saying they are finished, they have no chance, lets get ready for the Reds. Its a long season, let it play out and enjoy the ride. I am as disappointed as everyone with the 1st round exits. However ask the majority of fans across the NFL how hard it is for their teams to make the playoffs. Lets not take it for granted, enjoy the ride we been given, and lets just hope they can get over that hump in the playoffs.
December 23, 201411 yr I'm happy for them right now. But if the Bengals get crushed next Sunday and lose in the first round of the playoffs....I think we'll all be singing a different tune.
December 23, 201411 yr I am happy they won last night. I would not have been disappointed had they lost. I gave up caring about the Bengals a long time ago but still root for them to win.

I hear what you are saying but that is not my point. Only one team wins the Super Bowl each year but no matter what happens this year the Bengals really came through last night and I am very happy for them.

My post was directed more toward futurecoach's "I know how frustrated everyone gets with the 1st round exits. However people just need to learn to enjoy the ride." You can't enjoy the ride when you know how it's going to end every single time.
December 23, 201411 yr I'm happy for them right now. But if the Bengals get crushed next Sunday and lose in the first round of the playoffs....I think we'll all be singing a different tune. No doubt if they lose in the first round again we all will be mad and disappointed. However to many people in this area have not just enjoyed the ride. This franchise as a whole has been bad for for the majority of its time. It had two special years in the 80's however besides that we have never had a consistent winner here in Cincy. We have a consistent playoff team now in the Bengals and have been there 4 straight years and 5 out of the last 6. The majority of fan bases across the nation would kill to have done that the last 6 years, even though we have lost in the 1st round. Its because it still gives you a chance to sit back and cheer on your team while watching the NFL playoffs, and giving you that slight hope that maybe, just maybe they can finally do something. That feeling is a lot better than not making it at all. Enjoy the ride people.

You can't enjoy the ride when you know how it's going to end every single time. Thats the thing you don't know how it is going to end every time. As mentioned if it was so easy to win in the Playoffs, then Peyton Manning who is the best regular season QB of all time would have 5 or more Super Bowl rings. As great as he is, who would have ever thought he would only have 1. Its hard to win once you are in the playoffs, but anything can happen. Just like I am sure EVERYONE KNEW the Bengals wouldn't beat the Broncos on Monday Night Football against Manning who has never lost to the Bengals. Its about having the opportunity to do it, and right now the Bengals have another opportunity to do it. Will they get it done this year? Maybe or maybe not, but they have the opportunity. What is the point of being a fan if you don't enjoy it right now and hope for the best. That is what makes sports so great because you can get a lot of joy out of it, but also can get very disappointed. So as I said enjoy the ride and see what happens.

Just keep kidding yourself about that. Last playoff win was in 1990. Where does that rank among all of other NFL franchises?
December 23, 201411 yr In all seriousness, right now, today, I do not feel I know how it's going to end this year. Ok. You may be right. Which would shock you the most. Lose next week and then lose in Indy? Or win Next week and win a playoff game? Either could happen. Right?
December 23, 201411 yr Author futurecoach made some excellent points in this thread. Again, only one teams wins the Super Bowl but there are a few other teams each year that can really be proud of their accomplishments and we all need to be thankful for what we have vs. what we had before Marvin came to town.

I could see the Bengals winning the next two or three games or not winning again this year, I really don't know and that makes it fun. I will say, the Bengals have been on fire two weeks in a row, we are peaking at the right time.

This is they type of statement that irks me. That was 12 years ago. Eventually you have to get past that thinking. You always want to be better. Just better than 12 years ago isn't good enough for me.
