How does it start to cause issues? If you play well with each other and each player knows their role on the team then that my friend will make you a team to be made of. I feel that some players these days think it's about the name that's on the back of the jersey instead of the one on the front. Teams should be like a family.

 

Love each other, work with each other and you will preserve. It's ok from time to time to get into each other's throats. But that's out of love and care for each other. You bounce back from it and you get back to work.

 

More than 5kids per class sounds great, but it's not really for bball. Too many things to explain. But I bet if you ask varsity coaches, they'd tell you the same thing. You hit on one of them...parents that think their kid is better or if a younger kid played over an older one. Another easy one is if you have large classes that play? Then when that class leaves, you are kinda starting over, even if the classes below are talented. They still may not have been as integrated into the varsity system. So you sometimes have issues when they turnover. And my guess is that some of those MS kids quit and play other sports. You can only play 5 at a time and when it becomes distracting from another sport without much reward, they start to fall off in numbers.

 

Like I said, you only need 2-4 per class and occasionally a really good class may have 6.

Agreed, your 8th class is very good, especially with Barth added in there. The pioneer's have a very good freshman class and a solid sophomore class. 8th grade class is not so talented, but the the 7th grade class is very talented and has arguably 2 of the top 3 7th graders (jones and stamper) in NKY along with a top 6th grader who played with Jones on the Royals Div I AAU Natl runner-up team, which achieved the highest finish of ANY Kentucky AAU team, boys or girls ever. They also have a 6'2-3 6th grader that plays with her who is a force in the middle to say the least. Not predicting anything here but the future is very bright for the pioneers...Jones can shoot the lights out. Watched her score over 30pts one time against Stamper & vickers legacy team that finished 10/11th that yr in Div I Natls. She did have a little help from the likes of Scherer, Macke, Sergeant (6th grader) and others.

 

Not sure about the 6th grade kids, as I have not seen them play. The 7th graders, Stamper and Jones are strong additions to the Simon Kenton Freshmen team. I have heard they are the leading scorers respectfully.

 

The future does look bright for this young team.

I'm not sure I really understand this... First, you need to be top two in your District, then win out your Region before you can make it to State. That is the most important thing when it comes to post-season. Nothing else matters.

There have been many many good teams that would have won just about any region but never made it out of districts because of the level of competition they just happen to have.

 

I agree, I think the girls 8th Region is down from years past but I don't think you can call the top tier teams cupcakes. At least that appears to be the case when I look at the top two or three teams on KHSAA.com and who they have played. i also see some teams on here people are boasting about that really hasn't played a very tough schedule at all.

The good news is that why they play the games. In the end, just get me to the State Tournament and I'll take my chances from there. Regardless of Region.

i guess my point is you better believe it will mean something in March.

Coach Perkins does not work at the middle school he is at TLC in Park Hills which Coach Stowers is fully aware of. Tell him to try the high school next time since its Girls High School basketball.

SK didn't ask to be taken out of the 9th region, the KHSAA moved a bunch of teams out and switched the regions up, so that's not SK's fault that they don't play in the 9th anymore. Actually I would much rather see them in the 9th makes it easy on my traveling costs to keep driving down to Louisville to see them play in their region. good thing gas prices are low.

 

All at the end of the day the only things that matters is district games, and region games.

Mr./Ms. Uponatime said messages were left on his cell phone too. Sounds like Coach Showers made multiple attempts and different routes to get the guy to answer a phone call.
