To be fair to the kid, he did not want to go. He was upset about it.

Easily Dixie's worst game of the year.

 

I should't really say anything, cause it will start trouble.... but where's the fun in that?

 

Dixie did a splendid job of playing like robots, with really tight sphincters. Players are afraid to play basketball for of getting yanked. Sparky Anderson's ghost is on the Dixie bench The Dixoe players run their halfcourt sets to a fault. No one dared to aggressively drive the ball when there is a seam in the zone to attack. Players play to not make mistakes. They do not play to make something happen.

 

Montgomery Co. might have won the game on the scoreboard, but I'd argue Dixie's approach to the game lost it on the court. Montgomery Co. (except for their little PG) is not a team that is fleet of foot to say the least. They pressed with a soft press... no trapping except at halfcourt. They primarily stayed back looking to steal passes. Dixie should have dribble attacked to draw defenders and then pass.

 

Dixie also does not get many easy transition baskets, because they are not allowed to run the floor. They had 2 points in transition tonight... That's it.

 

Finally, it was a very, very touchy game as called by the officials. There was no way Dixie was going to be allowed to play their physical game. But, both teams played under these conditions.

 

And it really did hurt not having Bolin. He had been contributing so much and Montgomery Co. had a really big guy inside.

 

I could go on and on... but I'm done.

But now they are missing a 6'8 starting basketball player who is the leading rebounder, shot blocker and 3rd leading scorer

Momma wanted to take the family to Hawaii for a couple weeks and Mitch didn't have much say in staying or going. The players know his situation and have been very supportive toward him.

 

I'm sure the vacation won't suck but I know Mitch rather be here playing ball instead.

I typed a long response but decided it's not worth the trouble that it'll cause.

 

All I will say is that I hope Dixie is able to find a way to do something special this year because right now they are in a rut.

Fuller, Hodgson and Combs all scored in double figures for the Indians.

To be fair in the situation with Bolin, the family takes a family vacation most every year according to my understanding. Also, I'm sure the plan has been in play for quite some time. Let's not act like Bolin just joined this team... He's a 4 year player that has NEVER received a legit opportunity to play at the varsity level until this year, and I'm sure before the season started the family was unsure of how it would turn out, so... Based on the past, why not take a great family vacation to Hawaii.

 

A kid that has been 6'6" ish, since his freshman year, and fairly athletic (high jumper on the track team) should be able to get in a varsity level game before his senior year (yes, I know he played last year, but very sparingly compared to this year.)

Wow this Dixie offense reminds me of Highlands 2-3 yrs ago. Run the heck out if the offense until you get the perfect open look.
