Southwestern 88 Wayne County 66

Hold up. It is a long season, and some coaches are better down the stretch than others. Somebody will have to beat wayne come tourney time and Adams teams at Boyle are always a lot better at the end of the year than the First.

Sounds like cards have a lot of work to do

12th Region is a 4 team race IMO, Lincoln, Boyle, Southwestern, and Mercer!

Mercer? What have they done to put themselves into the group with the other 3?

Their results so far this season aren't very good. If there are 4, Wayne is still the fourth.

I agree that we shouldn't be dropping Wayne out of the top 4 at this point. There's a lot of basketball still to be played. What is clear is that they're no longer the dominant team within the region (that they were last year). Right now I think Southwest and Boyle are battling for first with Lincoln at third. Wayne would be a solid fourth.

Mercer is definitely still on the outside looking in. However, I'd disagree that their results "aren't very good" so far. They've lost 2 road games to teams ranked 2nd in their respective regions (per Bluegrass Preps rankings). And both were close games. For a team with a new coach and that only returns one full-time starter from last year's team, and a total of 2 players that played any varsity minutes at Mercer last year, that's better than I would've expected this early in the season. They are basically a completely new team.

We won't truly know what Mercer is capable of, whether that be top 4 or something less, for another month or so.

Mercer is 6th to me. West Jess is 5th

I have stated in previous threads that I thought that may very well be the case as well. They are going to be a tough game especially at home. However, they just had what I would deem a pretty bad loss. They were beaten this week by South Laurel by more than 20 points.

Wayne will be fine. Wayne is still a top 4 team in the region. Their offense will be good enough to win most games in the region. The only teams that they shouldn't be favored by double digits in the region are Southwest, Lincoln, and Boyle. I see them winning all other game in the region handily. That's a tough two game stretch for anyone in the state, and while the game against Southwest was a lackluster performance, it's one game. A very tough, emotional game played after another tough, emotional game. Don't be so quick to give up on the big 3 at Wayne. They are proven winners.

If Lincoln is part of the 4 team race and they just beat Wayne by 2 at home doesn't that indicate that Wayne is also in the race.

Yes. Wayne County may not be the team they were last year but I'd have them no lower than 4th in the region and they are still a threat to win it.

Southwestern is best team in 12 th and Wayne is overrated. I've been saying it all summer. No depth and no I defense

Looks likeSouthwestern got wooped by East Jessamine by 15. Must be harder to win without having referees that are your buddies ?. Looking at EJ games so far I would say that Southwestern must be pretty embarrassed. After all the best team in the 12th can't take care of business. Didn't see any losses like that last year when we were the best.
