I don't know... I saw them play last year, and it wasn't the most impressive play I've ever seen. They posted a 4-7 record in 2014 with wins against Shelby County, Atherton, Spencer County, and Waggener. The opponents they beat only managed average 3 wins each for the season.

 

I didn't see John Hardin play, but they posted a 7-7 record in 2014 with wins against PRP, J-Town, Grayson County, Western, Bullitt East, Grayson County, and Iroquios. They opponents they beat averaged 7 wins each for the season.

 

To get to Bowling Green next year, not only will Collins have to get past John Hardin, but they're also going to have to get past North Oldham in their own district - the same North Oldham team that gave them a 43-0 shellacking this past season. Seems like an awfully tall order, especially when your first post saying that Collins will only have 4 or 5 new faces in their starting teams for 2015.

The district Collins is in is probably the most difficult in 4A. Shelby, Franklin, North Oldham and Spencer. John Hardin is young and may be 1 year away but they will be much improved. Then if you do get out of the region a South Warren team that returns all of its starters on defense and their QB and best running back. Won't say they can't make it but it will be a tough road.

Yes Collins didn't have that many wins with a schedule over their heads. If you only knew what went on before that N. Oldham game. Lots of young kids on the field who will be growing up and getting a summer to prep them before the fall.

This past season is the exception and not the rule. Yes it was rough, but Collins had a ton of new kids playing against a tough schedule. The teams they lost to averaged over 9 wins this season. Their leading rusher was a freshman who is going to be really good. They also played a freshman at QB in the last 4 games of the year. Lots of freshman and sophomores got a lot of playing time. This was a rebuilding year for the Titans.

 

That 43-0 North Oldham loss was the first start for a freshman QB who was forced to play after an incident that caused a lot of turmoil within the team and resulted in a few players leaving the program. They also lost their defensive coordinator that week. There was a bit of a revenge factor too after Collins put a running clock on North in the regional championship the year before. All of that put together = a blowout loss.

 

Back to BG? I don't know about this year, but there is no reason to think Collins can't have a decent amount of success. They could certainly be top 10 in 4A and could win their district. North Oldham loses Beasley and that is a kid they cannot replace. North is always good, but I don't see how they will be as good as they were this year. Shelby and Spencer couldn't beat Collins this year which may have been their best chance to do so. Collins JV went undefeated this year. We will see if that will translate to the varsity level.
