Hate to say it Jack, but yes... They did see a lot on special teams or mop up jobs. Also I forgot to mention another senior, not sure of the name but played in the defensive line rotation.

Bardstown is a team I am curious to know more about

 

They have played in a meat grinder District but have steadily gotten better. Will they be able to push Central?

Can you share your reasoning out of curiosity?

 

For my money I think Belfry was a little better than both this year as it was, and Belfry returns more experience than both. Central wasn't quite as good, but close... but they return 8 Starters.

 

For the record I am not saying you are wrong...at this point I really don't know what to expect.

It is all theoretical thinking. Boyle and Lexington Catholic were evenly matched to me anyways in that last game. Johnson Central beat Belfry soundly. Covington Catholic beat Johnson Central. I believe Covington Catholic, Boyle and Lexington Catholic are all on the same level.

 

Lexington Catholic has tools. JJ, Jaylen and Hickey and Andy Thompson. Need I say more.

 

 

Boyle also has tools. Josiah Robbins returns at QB. We return Hagan Ellis who is our Center and Had over 100 tackles at ILB. We return 12 starters.Our Secondary is more experienced now.

One thing to consider re: Johnson Central vs. Belfry

 

Belfry played that game without 6 defensive starters and 5 offensive starters. Included in that group was Belfry's dominant DT's Bentley and Horton and both of Belfry's starting HB's, Belfry also lost their QB to injury in the 1st Half.

 

The game also wasn't quite as lopsided as the score suggested. Even missing such key pieces on defense the majority of JC's yards and points came via two trick plays and a long run by Workman right after Corbett left the game at Safety. Corbett was Belfry's 3rd option at Safety and when he left his replacement blew a read which resulted in the long run (80 yards I believe)

 

Johnson Central was better than Belfry, but with both teams healthy I think that is actually a 7-0 or 14-7 type of game.

I know its just a personal ranking but ranking to me is just an eye test. Johnson Central was ranked #2 all season long in 4A above Cov Cath, Lex Cath, Boyle Co. among others but no where to be found after 2nd round. Same for the top dogs in 6A and in the end Trinity prevailed. I guess what BNG is saying and from what he knows on who is returning for Lexington Cath and Boyle Co.

Lexington Cath returns WR Morris, JJ Ogbugo and the Thompson twins, RB Jones, 3 starting OL.. On defense all return but 1 D-line on rotation, return 2 of the 4 LB, CB Rowady. Boyle Co. returns Josiah Robbins and perhaps 1 of their RB- Brown and I'm not sure of the rest of the squad. It's a new " Conference " per say for BC and LC and with all the traditional powers Corbin, Belfy, Lou Central, BC and LC will have to prove that they can play in this class. Let's me just say this BC and LC have played numerous powerhouse 6A and 5A, out of state powers, so they are tested.

I think the Top 4 in 3A is pretty well set...but the order at this point your guess is as good as mine. Belfry and Central are loaded and will be the next two years... but we know LexCath and Boyle are bringing a very high level of football in as well.

 

Tilghman is the wildcard to me for the next few years. I could see them joining that elite group as early as next year...I could also see them continuing what became the M.O. in 3A under Coach Wyatt. A team capable of beating anyone, but never complete enough to string together 5 straight wins unless the other powerhouses are down.

 

I am putting my money that they flourish under Coach Rogers though.

Tigers graduate 14 seniors including all-everything guy Keanu Young, but they return a number of starters and have a strong sophomore class moving up. They'll hold their own.

My preseason top 4 would be Boyle Lex cath Belfry then Central.

Belfry and Lou Central has proven themselves by going to and winning state championship within the last few season and Lex Cath has beaten Boyle Co 7 out of last 8. So if that's your list in order, be ready to get heck from Belfry and other contending 3A fans. Just saying brother. I'm a big Lex Cath follower and I don't mind your list, but other won't appreciate that.
