Casey Co shouldn't be a measuring stick for anyone. They've not been a factor for years, and this year they've only beaten Burgin and Marion County (in OT). I haven't seen them, I'm just judging based on what I've read here and seeing the scores.

If you agree with me that this win doesn't make Mercer a top 4 team then what is this discussion about? I'm using the standard that those top 4 teams all made the region semifinals last year and those top 4 teams returned everyone this season and two of them, Boyle and Southwestern had players transfer in that make them even better. Last I saw everyone was using that standard and what we saw last night is that there has been a lot of hype around Casey County coming into this season and they proved to not be at the level of the #5 team in the region.

 

And yes, West Jessamine will have something to say about who is #5 also. I'll see East Jessamine on Tuesday as well. I'm sure both the Jessamine teams are better than Casey County.

 

Fair enough. However, Southwest does NOT return everyone. People seem to forget that they lost the best player in the region. They added Gover. He's a nice player but does not come close to replacing Edwards. Apparently their other transfer didn't even play yesterday.

Matters who is playing in the region come March. With all that being said Casey didn't show up tonight. Great game by mercer county tonight. They had it clicking in every way possible. Casey is still a year away from being a real contender.

Maybe Mercer County fans need to tone it down. Seeing as how there is a lot of chest thumping over beating an overhyped Casey County team. Mercer County probably shouldn't even be ranked 5th seeing as how they couldn't even make the region tournament last year. I mean until somebody beats West Jessamine they should be ranked lower than them right? When it comes to toning it down you should probably look in the mirror.

Any word on Will Hager's stats yet? He has to be one of the top 3 players in the region. He's even better than what he was last season.

That's even more funny. You were the first person to bring up rankings in this thread so if I were you I'd make sure I knew what I was talking about concerning discussing rankings before you try to castigate others about talking about rankings in December.

Lincoln County has some role players who are stepping up a little more this season. They were knocking down big time shots Saturday when the defense was triggering on Conway. And, of course, Taylor was finding them open.

What's funnier about this post is that if you read my words properly you'll see I was hating on Casey County and not Mercer County but by all means continue to believe what you want about me. Thanks. I highly recommend that anyone who gets a chance to see Will Hager play to please do it. He is worth the price of admission and a lot of fun to watch. He does it all.
